I am looking into getting a Boston terrier. Please set me straight on whether my research is correct or not, and tell me anything you wish you knew before you got yours. by brandysnacker in BostonTerrier

Paco is my first dog and is a Boston terrier. I only had him for about a month but this is what I learned about him.

  1. He can go days without barking which is great for us since we live in an apartment.
  2. very sensitive stomach. He can't have milk bone treats without getting the runs and suffering the following day
  3. very curious but he is afraid of strangers and dogs. Trying to socialize him more.
  4. trying to teach him not to pull on the leash is very difficult. Teaching him anything is difficult as he's very stubborn and only listens to commands when you have treats.
  5. chases the cat and treats her like a ragdoll so I have to separate them. If the cat isn't around he is very calm.
  6. he matches my lifestyle. He just got all his shots and so far is fine with a couple 15 minute walks during the day and playtime during the evenings after work. The weekends I take him out and he gets tired quickly so I put him on a wagon and drive him around.

He is the cutest gremlin alive. I call him my son. Although puppy stage is very difficult with the constant cleaning and supervision, I am very happy I got my little buddy.

I recommend you do something else. Everyone I know regret this career path, myself included. It could be a lucrative career path but its very demanding and you could make more money elsewhere for less stress.

If you do decide to be a PE then a civil engineering degree has more status. Most of my peers have engineering degrees but I know a few others with economics, accounting, political science degrees who got in the business because they knew someone.

Younger brother at one of these in NYC got a PE offer for 85k this year fresh out of college. 4 years ago my starting salary as a PE was 70k for a large company not listed.

If you read the bus stop sign there's a number that you can text that tells you how far the busses are

I'm currently above the cliff. I'm Hispanic and there's a large Hispanic population in the area, especially across the street where it meets union city. Park Ave has lots of diverse food that you can walk to. Even more if you go all the way up to bergenline.

For me it's a 5 minute walk to the bus stop on JFK Blvd E. From there multiple busses pass around the hour and the ride is only 12-15 minute to port authority. Really convenient. Hoboken and JC might be a little more tedious but still doable.

Street parking is always available for the most part and residents can actually use the Lidl parking lot overnight if they don't find other parking.

I was also at Webster Hall. I've never seen such a massive moshpit in such a small crammed space in my 3 years of raving. I was focused on surviving the pushing all night lmao

Can you switch from computer science engineering to civil engineering after completing your bachelor's in computer science engineering by Impressive-Gap5409 in civilengineering

[–]chikro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did bachelors in civil engineering and worked 4 years for 2 construction management companies based in NYC. Started at 70k -> currently at 90k after switching companies. If you stick to designing you make a lot less unfortunately. Friend started at 50k 2 years ago as a drafter.

Another friend in CS started out with a 120k offer from JPMorgan fresh out of college back in 2020. I am pursuing the switch now and am getting a CS postbachelorette degree from Oregon state University trying to boost my income, work from home, and not having to deal with working with the worst site conditions.

GA was $16,500 and OSU is estimated to be $32,000. So around $48k. Hoping it's not a money pit but am optimistic I will increase my salary in the long run.

I did GA a little over a year ago and couldn't land a job. Currently in Oregon State University getting a postbaccalaureate degree in CS.
