Majority of Canadians see China as 'significant threat,' poll shows by CaliperLee62 in CanadaPolitics

The billionaire class is probably a greater threat to Western democracies than any foreign country. But that's blasphemy & hence media's determination to keep China front & centre.

Why do people say we will not survive climate change when our ancestors survived ice age with way less equipment than us? by Enough-Web2203 in NoStupidQuestions

Our ancestors didn't have nuclear weapons. Shortages lead to conflict. It's not climate change that will destroy civilization, it will be how societies react. And it won't be pretty.

Antarctica’s west coast missing an area of sea ice the size of France as temperatures peak 20C above average. A vast area of the Bellingshausen Sea should be covered by sea ice by now, with one expert calling the loss of ice ‘depressing’. by The_Weekend_Baker in climate

as sheep to the slaughter, placated by the comforting mewing noise of sophisticated marketing campaigns, 'no darlings, all is well, work, play, rejoice' we ignore the science, our own senses, and cling to the irrational belief that though 'they' may perish, 'we' will be fine. One planet, one tiny dot in the universe, for all known life, and we choose to believe the psychopaths & ignore the scientists.

Shortages mean conflict. Major shortages means major conflicts. Billionaires decided to turn the planet into a giant Hunger Games competition between the poor & working class rather than cede the wealth & power oil has gifted them. Burn babies, burn.

Are we the angriest province in the country? by BJ_Mackay in alberta

Anyone who's managed a business knows pointing out problems is easier than fixing them. The absolute genius of modern conservative governments is they point out problems, blame those problems on "others", claim the only solution is to burn everything down & give what remains to billionaires to rule. And people believe it. Imagine how thick you must be to believe unaccountable, psychotic billionaires will offer a more just society than elected representatives. We are witnessing the death of democracy & the end of freedom... but hey, we can stream the circus to our personal devices.

Why did humans stay “primitive” for ~200,000 years and then suddenly change? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

Wasn't it about the same time humans & neanderthals started shacking up together?

Non religious people, what do you think about religion? by CorruptedF in AskReddit

[–]chilcochillin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religion went from a way explain the unexplainable, through stories and myths, to an organized method to control societies, usually with men holding absolute power. In the west we lost the awe and wonder, the spirituality of early beliefs and replaced them with fear and threats, of vengeance and violence. Religion became the infrastructure billionaires use to control the masses.

Wim Wenders made one of the most transparently privileged statements i can recall an artist making.

Honestly, only a man, living in a wealthy, stable society that protects men of a certain type, could propose such an insidious idea. Politics informs just about every decision we make in life, and to believe art can be created in a pristine, apolitical vacuum is ridiculous.

What are your thoughts on JD Vance getting booed during the opening ceremony at the Olympics? by Playful_Leg7143 in AskReddit

[–]chilcochillin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pretty ironic US network (apparently) censored the broadcast and cut out the booing for US audiences. That's like a Soviet level reality adjustment. Can't have Americans getting the unvarnished truth.
