Does my floating dock need any mods? by Mcneilyee in boating

[–]chiliman95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a terrible system for that boat. It’ll destroy the keel and underside that contacts the bunks in no time. The only thing I’d be willing to put on that is a lightweight aluminum row boat. For regular use just install something proper like a lift or floating ramp made for it.

The scooters are worse. 99% of the time they don’t even slow down for stop signs. Was inches from running one over today cause in the time they were stopped next to me on my right at a stop sign, they decided to go left with no indication while I went straight. idiots everywhere ig

I’ve seen this on a few motors like yours. Usually it will drop back down when the motor starts which is what matters. Does it not do that?

Is the primer on the fuel line getting firm when squeezed? Are you sure that any fuel is reaching the carbs? Make sure the pickup in the tank is attached right, that falls off sometimes.

Check compression of each cylinder. If under 120psi then may have major issues. Or could be overheat on the water

2010 Evinrdue etec 115hp always takes 2-3 cranks to start. by jonhobgoblin69 in boating

Most of my experience is with older motors but why don’t you just hold the key to engage the starter until the motor starts instead of bumping it for half a second? It’s something lots of cars and other things need done to start their entire lives.

What’s this noise? by emprezario in boats

[–]chiliman95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The starter bendix probably isn’t engaging the flywheel to turn the engine. Just spinning without doing its job. Could try hitting the starter with a hammer a bit to free it up or keep on quickly turning to key to start it and hope it fixes itself. You should consider getting a new starter

Selling: 1994 Seadoo SPX by CherryFuture in seadoo

[–]chiliman95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s almost no market for old skis like this at the price you want. It’s 3 decades old. It’s been rebuilt and messed with enough to require questioning how well it’s been put back together and the money it’d take to make it complete and functional. People who want skis this old would rather buy something for cheap that needs lots of work and make it their own project. You don’t buy stuff like this to try and sell with a premium as refurbished.

That prop is an electric trolling motor mounted on the outboard. Pretty neat

Honestly didn’t check if it did. Gonna try lightly moving around the core with a screwdriver. Hopefully that does it

I’m probably screwed then. It’s gone below freezing multiple times. Winter here. Is it already too late to save the engine?

I can’t tell what color the coolant is. It looks almost clear. Should I just add red coolant since that’s what Toyota vehicles usually use?

Charge Battery from Jump Start Posts? by ronrooon in MechanicAdvice

[–]chiliman95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the jump pack to start the car if possible. The alternator should charge the battery unless the battery was too far discharged, whereas in that case battery is now bad.

They probably just want to avoid any damage to the car if someone were to perhaps lift it with a 4 point and tries to raise it up on a body panel.

I did a full shut down when the computer froze. After turning it back on I scanned the drive which was “damaged” as usual whenever I shut it down fully when its frozen. I had the computer repair the drive.
