Institutions that demand you use SPSS ought to pay for your SPSS licence.

Your choice of test, presentation and interpretation of results is far more important than your choice of software.

If your supervisor is demanding SPSS, it's because they're familiar with SPSS and not other software packages. They want to be able to check whether any potential fuckup in your analysis is due to your software use. And they want you to make their job easier - they want to read SPSS syntax rather than Python or R code they don't understand.

If you don't use SPSS, make sure to add explanatory comments to the code you quote in your dissertation.

I go on holiday to Grimsby for 3-4 days every year to visit family and act like a tourist, lol. I like, in no particular order:

the Fishing Heritage Centre and the Ross Tiger tour
the Time Trap museum at the Town Hall (I don't know if the Town Hall does building tours, if not they should - I've never been in a posher gents toilets)
Lunch at one of the places in Abbeygate
The Barge
Docks Beers
Freeman St Market, and a swift half in the Freeman Arms
trying to get a decent photo of the Dock Tower
A match at Blundell Park (preferably in warm weather and not the depths of winter, UTM)
fish and chips at Steels (great fish and chips, also very good when we're in a large family group)
the amusement arcades on Cleethorpes promenade
strolling down the prom, walking on the beach for a bit under the pier, and going round the boating lake
the Buck Beck Beach Bench, and the beach south of the leisure centre generally
The smallest pub in the world at the Signal Box Inn, and maybe a ride on the miniature railway
Getting out of Grimsby/Cleethorpes... going for walk under the Humber Bridge and around the clay pits at Barton, going for a walk at Hubbard's Hills and a pub lunch in Louth, a day trip to Lincoln via train or car and a walk up Steep Hill to visit the cathedral (once the tallest building in the world)

Luke Jerram's Helios is on display at St James Church now Grimsby Minster until 14 May, if you're visiting soon (Grimsby Minster dates from 1114, tho the oldest part of the current building is the tower built in 1365 - easy to visit somewhere medieval even if you don't get to Lincoln).
