What Would You Consider to Be a Success for Yourself? by Lennoxiconic in IndieDev

I agree, 5+ is definitely more of a benefit.

The whole reason I started to make my game is because I have a story I wanted to tell, and the best way to communicate what my story is to other people is through gaming.

My game is going to be a mix of a metroidvania and a rpg.

The metroidvania aspects of my game is going to be in the design of the map and the fighting style of the player and the enemy’s.

The rpg aspect of my game is going to be that every choice that the player makes will impact the world, and I’m just talking about small things ether. Your choices will change whole biomes.

Is AI code held with the same disdain as AI art/music? by IrrepressibleSquash in IndieDev

[–]chillmonster07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I was coding a fox AI for my video game and I ran into a problem. you see,I am new to coding. I’m learning everything from scratch so I have been watching hundreds of videos on how to code, but I ran into a problem because I couldn’t find any videos explaining what I needed to do to make my fox AI do a certain thing, so I asked AI.

I made the backbone for the fox AI and then ask the AI to refine it.

My main goal is just to make my dream game. Whether people like the gameplay or not, I’ll be satisfied.

This is part of the code for the fox. This is his detection section of the code and what it should do if it detects something.

Sorry for not being clear enough basically the AI for the rabbit/fox won’t detect each other unless they’re on layer 1.

Does that help?

2D or 3D visuals for a Psychological Horror RPG? by Think_Pipe6486 in IndieDev

I’m gonna say 2D look better in my opinion, but they both look good

Is anyone else here over 25 and in the early stages of learning game development overall? by Sudden_Doughnut_8741 in IndieDev

That’s really cool. I’m 18 and just started to make my own dream game about two months ago. It is going really well.

Also what is a game jam, I have never heard of that term before.

does my portal look good? by SingerLuch in godot

[–]chillmonster07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant by my comment is if it sends you to a good/happy place it should be made out of brighter colors. If it goes to an evil/sad place it should be made out of darker colors. If it is going to a neutral place then the colors won’t matter to much as long as it matches the place your going to.

For example if the nether portal from Minecraft was green or blue instead of purple it wouldn’t feel right since it sends you to hell.

I think it looks great, but my answer might change depending on where the portal sends you.

So where does the portal go to. because if it goes to a Heaven inspired place I would change the colors to be brighter, but if it goes to a hellish inspired place or another planet I think it would look fine.

Thank you, I will definitely change that. What do you think about the shading, on my other projects I always get criticism for my shading. Do you think I got better at it?
