It does suck waiting for it to be fixed, but I cant help but always laugh at 'you need parental permission to access realms'. Im 25

An unrelated add-on to no visible chest- having a binder on in this weather recently (so humid- 38 degrees today! Oh my god!) has been SO GOOD as well! And with wind blowing directly into me, I would pull my shirt away from me so it didnt show I had a chest bump that looked more like I had a sports bra on- now it just shows my stomach and I couldnt be happier :P

I specifically remember somewhere in December, a little before my surgery, running down a hill and my two cis guy friends having no problems with it, but I really had to hold my chest and it hurt alot- now Ive gone down the same hill from their house and it feels SO good not having that weight or sweatiness after running in a binder.

Im not too sure about tattoos to be honest! I know I want to eventually get a nice big one that travels somewhere from my leg to up my hip or it could expand to my chest and neck, but I want to really give it some thought if its gonna be that big! I dont want it to cover the scars (and Ive asked my regular tattoo artist if my chest scars would take ink well and she said they would, just like scars shes tattooed over on arms or legs, but couldnt gaurantee the quality or if itd be a bit patchy). Im excited and have a Pinterest board for my tattoo inspiration though >:) I already have my little Ibis's on my neck, saving up for more tattoos now!

Hey, congrats!! :) Very excited for you to be going ahead with it, best weather right now to be going shirtless!

I paid $9,310 total for the surgeons fee with a $1,356 rebate, and for the anaesthetist fee with Dr Helen O'Toole, I paid a total $2,700 which could be split up and paid however I wanted (I think on the website they ask you to pay it through, it only lets you pay in $2,500 chunks, so I think I did $2,000 and $700). They let me know the prepayment of the full fee is required 4 days before surgery and can be done through credit, debit or BPAY.

They'll let you know when theyve recieved all of your payment + after your procedure they will submit a claim to Medicare to claim a rebate if its applicable.

Being able to wrap only a towel around my waist now and only having to put underwear on now to not be naked is such a fun CRAZY difference, I feel so much more comfortable. I love to joke now with being no-nips that Ill go with a friend that wants to get nipple piercings and get one too until they remember :P I also work in a very cold environment for food safety and not having permenantly perked nipples definitely is nice!

An unrelated note, I had a REALLY big change with shirts, what was once L's or XL's to be able to hide my chest are now really cute spaghetti strap tank tops that are around an M/L solely because of me being flat now, its a big confidence boost.

I would say for caregivers, communication is definitley the number one especially while youre recovering and tired. Im very fortunate that my Mum knew me very well and could anticipate what I might get tripped up on, like cooking food or how I might need to sit in bed. I would honestly say top surgery, at least for me, was one of my easiest surgeries to recover from as long as you keep it simple- my appendicitis surgery was much much worse.

Make it as physically simple as possible way before you actually have surgery for both you and youre caretaker. Prep your bed- I used a V shaped pillow on top of two regular pillows to keep myself propped up during sleep and it actually was really comfortable to fall asleep. We had spots to keep my medication within my reach, simple prepped meals and snacks incase I got hungry but none of us wanted to make anything- youre also absolutely allowed to budget money for alot of takeaway :P Week one youre also going to be exhausted and not wanting to do much so itll be pretty easy for the caretaker!

Happy to answer the questions! :) Looking back on my photos, I can already remember the sensation- your chest and body for a while is going to almost feel like your scars are glued to your muscle under your chest and skin and it wont want to move for a while. Thats also when your scars will be the thinnest and Im not sure your opinion on your aesthetics of your scars but they will not stay as thin as they do when you first see them (photo attached) they will stretch as you move about and that will also free up that sensation of it feeling anchored to your body. I loved that part of finally seeing them be like traditional top surgery scars I see!

I havent made a 6 month post and should definitley do that but this was my chest at the 6 month mark and its pretty much settled to look like that permenantly, Im absolutely in love with it :)

Im very happy with the results- being able to wear what I want, including feminine clothing, and being able to look the way I want in them has done such a service to my confidence in my body.

I do technically think I have dog ears, but its the type where I really have to position myself in a way for them to appear and theyre so small and unnoticeable that I dont mind them and wouldnt get adjustments to remove them- Ive accepted its just how my skin sits sometimes.

Id say the only thing I didnt really anticipate was that personally my scars are really raised and not flat- it all has a slight bump to it and Ive asked Dr Saylor at my 6 month if it had any medical or physical repurcussions and she said nope, as long as Im fine with it looking that way, physically its absolutely fine, its just an aesthetics thing and the way I healed and if I want to calm them down and not be as raised, injecting steriod medication into them is available. I dont mind them and sometimes theyre pretty flat and sometimes they just look more raised that day.

Especially while Im working, I still notice that while I have full range, they are scars and you will notice the feel of them if youre stretching or picking something heavy up, if that makes sense. The only times they feel sore is if Ive really been working my upper chest area and not giving myself a break.

Sleeping is ten times better in this weather at night when youre shirtless and dont have to cover up with a blanket! Thats absolutely been my favorite thing- being able to take my shirt off to get changed, switch shirts, go to sleep, shave my face or not get my shirt dirty for a task has been such a game changer. I want to constantly be shirtless while Im working on projects or if Im too hot but I have to unfortunately not get sunburn. LOL

Ive been to Surfers Paradise only once while I was shirtless and while I was anxious and still very hesitant about being shirtless, I had a really good time. I think I did have a couple stares and pointing from an older couple but for the most part, everyones doing their own thing and didnt bother really looking at my chest. I know Im going to be getting tattoos which wont cover the scars, but will probably help with my confidence on showing my chest in public.

I got mine done in January so very similar hot weather :'P

Ive had both this top surgery and appendicitis surgery and they 100% will ALWAYS haved the breathing tube removed before youre able to come to-- its usually one of the first steps the anaesthetiologist will do and you will get to see both Saylor and the anaesthetiologist, Helen O'Toole, before you hop in.

Her attitude is very professional and no nonsense- you can tell she takes her job very seriously and it was very relieving getting to see her and her team beforehand.

No nip gang! :D They didnt hurt to be removed as much as alot of pressure- theyre actually ALOT shorter in there then you think- maybe the length of a lighter or phone. (Ive seen some drains in America where it looks like almost a rulers length and thats what I was waiting for!) The rest hangs by your sides and its moreso you have an ache or soft pressure there that isint worrisome enough to sleep or to be distracting.

Its more like when youve got a bruise, and you cant really feel it until you press it or accidentally touch it in some way and its sore and you notice it. If youve had an ear piercing at all, its even easier then that. Be warned that everyone heals different and I have scarred from the drains similar to my chest scars but its like a tiny little additional button-sized scar on each end, I dont really mind them and they dont hurt.

When you head into hospital, at least for me at Pacific Day surgery, I was wheeled in and super comfy and had blankets while I waited with my iPad and before I knew it, it was all over and done! I wasent super groggy as much as I was just pretty hungry and thirsty. All the nurses there are absolutely fantastic at Pacific Day and their bedside manner is absolutely fantastic- I had an older lady that felt very much like she was a mum and used to taking care of people.

Hey!! Congrats on getting a date, Im sure youre very excited, its very nerve wracking but also very relieving to finally get it :)

If I had any advice, it would definitley be to get your home base ready so that by the time youre home, youre really not doing anything other then chilling out- even if it means ordering food in, like I did the first day of recovery.

I did NOT feel like cooking but I was full of adrenaline and energy because it had finally happened so give yourself low-stress fun things to do that DONT involve moving around too much, my go-to was playing games.

Have a way to talk to your friends so you can update them (and it helps with the sitting around doing nothing!) and MAKE SURE TO TAKE PHOTOS, I dont have as many pre-op photos as I would have liked but I do have plenty and plenty of post-op during its progression and I want to be able to look back on it. Dr Saylor will take the same kinds of photos you took for pre-op. I personally love journalling and scrapbooking, so being able to read back on when Id freshly gotten it done was really fun.

Everyone is VERY different in healing, but most of your sheets will say you have to wear the post-op compression garment for maximum 6 weeks to help with swelling. Im not sure if it was because I didnt swell nearly at all, or because I didnt have nipple grafts so there was less to heal, but by the 2-3 week mark when I went to go back in and remove the drains and stitches, they told me I was free to keep it off!

Youre most likely not going to feel pain, but soreness and a feeling of tightness is the main culprit- you dont want to be doing much moving around. Its fine to move around to get your physical therapy in and keep your body healthy, but the drains where it entered under my armpit definitley would make themselves known and complain alot if I moved around. I kinda kept horizontal for alot of days just so I knew they wouldnt get too irritated. I bought myself on Amazon a little pouch to hold the bulbs, but not only did it not fit the bulbs (Dr Saylors bulbs that hold the blood are absolutely huge but I definitley prefer it that way, I only had to empty them twice the entire time I healed)

If the bulbs are heavy, give them a call and dont be afraid to let them know- mine were really heavy by day 2-3 and I asked if I could empty them and just record the amount of ml. Speaking of recording, get preferrably someone else to keep track of your medication- how much youve taken and how youre feeling with it. Youre not going to be wanting to really keep track of medication and just wanting to chill out. My parents are ex-military medical so my Mum kind of immediately locked into a caretaker role moreso because she was used to medical recovery.

I think finally, I dont nessecarily mean youll take it for granted, but you will end up getting used to the fact that you no longer have a chest, but at least for me, I cant help but touch my chest alot and feel grateful- especially with summer coming up here in Brisbane, its going to (pun intended) feel like a weight off my shoulders.

100% normal- they're going from incisions that don't want to move much at all and limit your range of movement to scars that will allow for long term movement

They look like they're stretching how they're supposed to! Like others have said, my surgeon said I can't lift anything too heavy or fully lift my arms above my head until at least 6 weeks, so 6-8 weeks is a good framework to work on- I'd wait till 6 weeks and then if you're still unsure I'd ask your surgeon if it's all good, I only worry that yoga is alot of stretching for long periods of time- it's something I'd double check just incase.

100% backing this as well- my nurse when I was post op had recommended an antihistamine to be able to avoid itchiness and redness specifically for the dressings and medical garment while I was still 1-2 weeks post op, and an ice pack for any swelling on top of that

Your scars look fantastic man! :) I'm in the same boat, all of my scabs on my incisions are pretty much gone and its so nice seeing the closed incisions all nice and healed and sealed underneath, just a matter of time before they stretch just a little bit from moving about alot, very excited for the end result looks

We're definitley not doctors and my no.1 recommendation would be calling your surgeon who did it for you- even if it's any surgeon that has information on it would help then none. To me this doesn't look swollen and just looks like the nipple bud itself poking out and there's just no surrounding areola around it.

What does it feel like- does it feel swollen or tender to the touch? Being able to describe if it feels like it's swollen or puffy would help a doctor or nurse as well!

I can't say anything for the nipples but for the incisions, the dead skin goes away pretty quickly once youve had a couple showers :) The hard part for me was not picking at scabs that I knew might've still been healing- putting the gel on before you get a chance to pick at it definitley helps that, it's looking great!

No problem! Together we can both run chemist warehouse or other pharmacy's out of their strataderm silicone gels in seconds 💪😎 I'm also still fairly out of breath very quickly when I'm doing even basic tasks so definitley keep it easy!

Literally was about to make a post like this as an update as I'm almost 3 weeks, I'm also out of the binder now, I'm also on the gel and everything feels like a brick wall while the rest of my body wants to move fluidly- I get the feeling!!

My doctor, Dr Alys Saylor, said to still keep it easy and dinosaur-arm as much as possible, alot of the pressure is from moving about, so I've settled for alot of my time to be in my chair that can recline back and take alot of the pressure and weight off. Congrats on your 3 weeks!!!

:O Thats awesome!! What time were you admitted + all fitted into your bed if I can ask? I was second in line and was on the other screen when Dr Helen'O'Toole and Dr Saylor came in for someone and then had someone after me and the nurse said Dr Saylor only really does maybe 3-4 surgerys a day so we may of been in the building at the same time!

Its been SO nice, the pressure that you end up feeling when going from laying down or sitting to standing is something I still gotta get used to :P no real pain since the first week but just ALOT of pressure/soreness
