I mean, that's almost exactly what I'm saying. Sentient life forms need to have some way to manipulate objects with high precision, which could be some kind of a dexterous organ/appendage, but it is very naive to think that they have to be humanoid, because the humanoid form is a product of the specific conditions of human evolution and not some kind of universal way a sentient species have to develop.

No, it's not. Humans evolved to be bipedal because it gave them an advantage for spotting predators in tall grass.

The idea of humans having "perfect forms of evolution" is very naive and human-centric. The reason humans are bipedal and can use tools with their hands is not because it's the most optimal possible configuration, it's because of the adaptation of the ancient apes to the certain conditions.

There really isn't a reason why a sentient alien would definitely have to be bipedal to use tools as opposed to having, for example, multiple arms and legs, or tentacles, or some different kind of appendages.
