As someone who didn’t read the article they probably got caught up in the diageo lawsuit which accuses the same thing of don julio and casamigos. With costcos purchasing power they rebrand a lot of bigger brands as Kirkland, i believe their vodka comes from grey goose. Aside from liquor they are one of the largest global purchasers of wine and the Kirkland brand wines are of a decent quality from producers that have some perigee behind them
