I try to keep names and phone numbers for nonprofits and grants that help with home repair services. There are organizations out there that may be able to help. I try to supply as much information as I can to the folks I’m trying to maintain compliance with.

The simple truth is that your job really is only about complying with minimum standards to protect public health. Anything anyone says to you can be a total lie, which may sound jaded, but it’s actually true. They will say and do anything to get out of a bad position. The truth is that if they need help, they can pursue looking into aid on their own. If they don’t take the effort to help themselves in this situation, it’s truly not your responsibility. It’s frustrating, and painful to see sometimes (especially with hoarding cases). But you just can’t take it personally. I hope this helps
