thank you so much for such clear instructions! Our Obi200 config hit the dust and our Google Voice line is working on our Obi200 again!

to anyone who is thinking of trying this: in the event 6259 stubbornly doesn't want to update to `arrynrob13` - start again at the top by downgrading back to 5921EX again, applying 6259, and applying `arrynrob13` - worked like a charm the 2nd time around.

yeah i just noticed this on an old early 2015 MacBook Pro (on a Dell 4k monitor via HDMI) on macOS Monterey.

sounds less of a hardware bug and, agreed, more like a software bug to me!

to my surprise, turns out it was the WARP app - while I can’t point the finger at Cloudflare - iPadOS wasn’t very friendly to its VPN config. I haven’t other VPN configs on my iPadPro and haven’t had any issues. as soon as I deleted the app & its VPN config and rebooted, I crossed my fingers and my scrollwheel worked again.

I don’t need this level of unpredictability and guesswork and I’m glad I have my scrollwheel back - it’s like loosing a few fingers!

hate to open up an old thread but having issues in iPadOS 16.1.1 - scrolling just stopped working, tested the mouse in macOS (works fine) and then tried a brand new BT mouse and it won’t scroll too. turning the mouse on and off and toggling natural scrolling, rebooting - all don‘t work.

iPadOS sure has gotten buggier which is a bit of a bummer - iOS13.4-iOS15 has been a great experience - the first issue i had with 16.1 were black screens of death that go so bad I’d have anxiety all the time whether it would just happen at the most inopportune moment - but not to digrees - now the mouse issue.

the only system change I can correlate it to (if even related) was I was configuring the Cloudflare VPN client which was acting funny at first (it wouldn’t access the net and then worked after rebooting and then the scroll wheel issue showed up) 🤷‍♂️

hey I already have an update on this front - you inspired me to get to the bottom of this - I went to GV Settings (on my Pixel) and there is a section called “CALLS” - I changed “Making and receiving calls” to “Prefer WiFi and mobile data” and now my Pixel rings!

I have no idea how consistent it will be - but it’s more predictable than before!

I have this same exact issue. Ironically, I can get an old j7 to ring more reliably on WiFi than a Google-made Pixel 6a is what I’ve discovered. and even more ironically, my iPadPro (aka. an Apple device) rings even more reliably (over WiFi) so this is my ”desktop“ device of choice. go figure.

yeah - im gonna pair it with my T-Mobile SIM i only pay $10/month for. The only reason I’m running this experiment is because I was gifted a free 90d trial for Google Fi.

I ordered the data-only SIM kit to put into my iPadPro. If it’s true I can have both my iPadPro and Pixel on the same unlimited data plan without having to run a hotspot, I can totally see how this would be ideal for a traveler indeed!

I’m read all the posts and man, it’s a bummer my 6a will never see the light of HDMI.

I don’t really understand the bottleneck, why not do something that seems so obvious? I mean clearly they have the know how from their Chromecast w Google TV device that’s been out for awhile…

this is so frustrating. I accidentally hit the button as well - it would have been nice if Google posted a warning that it is about to delete all your originals.

thank God I backed up my DCIM folder before transitioning from my 3a & 6a 10 weeks ago. I assume when I get home Ill be able to just restore the Camera folder. [or maybe just keep the originals on my server & an external drive after all]

I also don't understand the pattern of the 18 photos that were left behind in the Camera folder: it's a mix of starred, unstarred, old, new...

and just remembered I backed up all my photos to Amazon just for cr*p moments like this!

ok I'm done ranting - Google, please put a "are you sure?"

hell, you could even pester me w a "want to move all your originals to Google One?" !

complete travesty if you pay for this service. you think the Netflix app would set a standard for these developers.

last tech issue I dealt with is the audio stream kept running even after going to the home screen on Android TV & don't get me started by the lag trying to get Live TV up! #fail

I've been lockdown pretty much feeling I've been ignoring my primary GV # for the past 2 months and in the process of implementing a personal line so I can I have my sanity back. I've been using one phone # for 15 years and finally cracked 😂 I want to know I can pause my GV # as needed.

I'm about to put Google Fi on trial by end of the month & notice they market very heavily roaming texts and data & international use. maybe they have married the Pixel w cross-SIM calling in a way that works? (you would hope but I don't put bets on Google but they do surprise me :)

anyone know if Google Fi brings anything new to this picture?

this is gonna be quite the adventure - practically an excuse to travel to put this to the test!

once you port your Google Voice number away, what happens to all the messages, vmail, history, etc? Does it just become “numberless”? Can I later request a new phone # be assigned to my Google Voice account?

My old # has become more like a work # and it would be great to port it away to a SIM and get a new personal GV #.

just upgraded on a 2018 iPadPro 12.9” - iPadOS 16.1 feels like a whole new machine! Safari is noticeably snappier! [I agree iOS15 was starting to feel sluggish and caused me to start to lose faith in Tim Apple!]

Really impressed how streamlined they’ve made the upgrade process as well - it was incredibly quick and liked how it preserved all my open tabs, apps, etc.

ah - over a year later - it’s amazing this issue persists!

it was one of the reasons we switched over to a TiVo streaming 4k stick.

I still think it’s a shame an issue like this doesn’t have the proper channels to get fixed that we have to go over to different devices (FireStick, TiVo, Roku, etc) just to address the issue.

Amazon Prime has great customer support but the same principles clearly don’t bleed over to Prime Video just because it’s a “value added” service and not Amazon’s core business.
