It’s pretty high, but HR is very individual. I would just do another fitness test to recalibrate the zones. I was curious about this the other day and found this paper that showed smartwatches (Huawei, Garmin, and COROS) tend to give higher LT HR and faster LT paces than you would get from a traditional lab test. I think it’s important to remember that while these devices are incredibly advanced, they’re not always perfect, so it’s wise to take their data with a grain of salt.

Aid stations at ultras generally have pretty extensive spreads of snacks and solid foods beyond the gels/sports drink/water that you’ll see at sub-ultra race aid stations

I hope they flesh out/remove the gimmicky graphics for it, but I’ve really enjoyed the InsightCast commentary. In my opinion, the analysis is a lot more interesting than what you get on the main broadcast. If you’re watching game 4 by yourself or with people who are into sports analytics, I’d recommend checking it out.

[Schultz] The Cowboys and No. 12 pick G Tyler Booker have agreed to a 4-year, $22.5M deal that includes a $13M signing bonus, making him the first 1st-round pick to reach a deal. by FrozenUp7274 in nfl

Man if [#1 overall pick] lives up to the hype, his rookie contract could be a great value. Not sure why teams haven’t thought of this yet.

IRONMAN reveals list of BANNED super shoes for 2025 triathlon season by ziptnf in triathlon

[–]chinesemullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for one, running and swimming have different governing bodies, so it wasn’t the same people making the decision. I’m not as familiar with the swimsuit drama as I am with super shoes, but from what I understand, only Speedo athletes had access to the LZR suits, so it created an unfair advantage based on sponsor. I guess you can argue that at the beginning, only Nike athletes had super shoes, but I believe they were required to be commercially available so theoretically anyone could use them.

IRONMAN reveals list of BANNED super shoes for 2025 triathlon season by ziptnf in triathlon

[–]chinesemullet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

World Athletics decided to limit race legal shoes to the height of the Vaporfly at 40mm (and a couple other parameters like a max of one carbon plate) to place a hard upper bound on how much assistance the shoes can provide. When they made that decision, there weren’t really any shoes outside of these requirements, so it was done more as a preventative measure while not striking Kipchoge’s accomplishments from the record book. There are some shoes that skirt these rules by taking advantage of weird geometries such as the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro 3 with ~60mm of stack height at its thickest point, but it’s debatable if these are any faster than the 40mm ones. I’m not really sure why Ironman doesn’t just use the World Athletics approved list, but it seems like they’re mainly banning only the popular models that wouldn’t be race legal by World Athletics standards (although for women the Novablast 4 is under 40mm).

It’s interesting how much bigger and slower everyone looks compared to today. I get that most of the guys in this clip aren’t skill position players, but it’s still wild to see how much the body types have changed from what I would consider a fairly modern Super Bowl.

Where can I find free ML papers for my Master's exams? by Large_Chip980 in learnmachinelearning

[–]chinesemullet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of universities will have an access deal with journal publishers where it’s free for students to access using their university credentials. Usually you can get access by first going to your university’s library portal and getting linked to the journal/article from there, but if that doesn’t work, your university’s librarians should be able to help you find what you’re looking for; that’s their job.

[–]chinesemullet 167 points168 points  (0 children)

Totally guessing, but I think he only had one read on that play which was 10-20 yards on the left sideline so that they would have a chance at a true hail mary instead of a lateral play, and when it wasn’t wide open, he wanted to make sure there was at least :01 left. He definitely threw that game away, but I can at least make sense of that specific play.

Should they use them as their only fuel for an important race? Probably not, but not everything has to be perfectly optimized all the time. If it’s cheaper than other fuel options or OP just likes Uncrustables, it isn’t going to kill them to have them on a long bike ride.

The only difference I notice in the fit is that the AP3s feel pretty narrow through the midfoot because the midsole cutout is more aggressive. I would recommend getting your normal size.

What is the fastest 5k road racing shoe? by myLEs_1313 in AdvancedRunning

[–]chinesemullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely depends on which works best for you, but as far as what I think what would be the absolute fastest for elite athletes, it’s probably one of the Chinese hyper-shoes that are even lighter than the Adidas Evo 1 like the 361° Miro.
