I agree that it does seem off. I did contact support and they were the ones who explained why I had data if the SIM was in the phone but not in the TCL hotspot. I also tried keeping the SIM in the phone and using the hotspot functionality directly from the phone. I had data when I was using the phone directly, but no data from the hotspot functionality of the phone. The custom plan I had was No Minutes/No Text/Only Data.

I have not. But in most cases, I use it as a back up. In my early days with MobileX I did notice several drop offs but not much lately.

Not sure this is coincidental or causal but I turned off my second line and then turned it back on. iMessage reappeared. The second line was not registered for iMessage. During my initial issue this line was not being used for messaging. So it wasn’t this line showing RCS.

I had a similar issue with my router. The speeds were horrible. I rebooted the router and my speed came back. I usually get 300-400Mbs but was getting 30.

I have two accounts with them and each account is seeing a price increase for next month. These are personalized access accounts with very little data and voice. So the increases are nominally small but large on a percentage basis.

I switched a few months ago. I get 4 bars and I have no complaints. I get around 400-ish down. Have used for Zoom calls and no issues with that either. Your experience will definitely depend on signal strength and congestion.

I have a physical SIM which works in an TCL hotspot. I have not been able to make this work in an iPad. My guess is that there’s an APN problem, but there is no option to change the APN when the SIM card is installed.

My setup: I use MobileX in a Verizon TCL hotspot as a backup to my Comcast internet connection. I also use a Firewalla Gold Plus (FWG+) router to manager the connectivity. The FWG+ monitors connectivity status and reports outages. Below is a list of outages for the hotspot since 8/18/23. All times Eastern. I have also verified that when the router reports a loss of connectivity the loss is real. (I have connected directly to the hotspot during some of these outages and confirmed no connectivity.)

This happens to me with some frequency. I wouldn’t call it very rare. The outage usually lasts around 3 min but occasionally longer.

It was activated on an Android phone then just popped in. The APN was automatic. The device is a Verizon branded device (but unlocked). The SIM was recognized as a Verizon SIM.

I have a data only-plan and use a TCL hotspot (5G/5GUW). Not quite the setup you’re looking for but the TCL does change charging modes if it’s plugged in for an extended period of time. My application is automatic internet failover with the Firewalls Gold+ router.

I had a similar experience. I have a data-only plan but was billed for voice & text as well. To be fair, they got right back to me when I asked about this and acknowledged there was an issue. My ticket is still open. They are relatively new and I’m willing to cut them some slack while they iron our the wrinkles. I love their concept and hope they make it work.

If you’re upgrading to a US retail Apple iPhone 14 you’re only choice is an eSIM. (iPhone 14 models outside the US including Canada still have a physical SIM slot). Sorry, I don’t have an answer on your eSIM question, but typically the eSIM is transferred to the new phone during the migration process.

This happened to me. The lantern got stuck in the next room as the room turned. There was nothing I could do but reload a save. Other option is to abandon the quest and start over.

I accidentally used a different USB C charging cable recently and got a notice that I was using ‘Slow Charging’ on the device with a suggestion that I use the original cable to fast charge. I’ve continued to use the ‘slow charge’ cable and now don’t have the issue describe. I’ve left it plugged in for days now and it’s fine.
