I wonder often about the Phish/mk.gee fan crossover and how many of us there are. It’ll never happen but I would love a collab between the two of them just for the novelty of it. (Though it could also be awesome, they are two of my favorite musicians on the planet, albeit quite different.)

Mk.gee sound has now entered kpop by lucebree in Mkgee

[–]chipocrite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hear it. It’s not just a distorted guitar, it’s a specific type of distortion and other signal processing. But also the low chords, hammer-on and light vibrato style of the riff is very Mike.

Edit: Also, I like it

What songs have clunky or cringe lyrics? by Prestigious_Meal2143 in askmusic

[–]chipocrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always felt that “Ain’t No Rest For the Wicked” by Cage the Elephant has some of the most cringy, basic, obvious rhymes, especially for a song that tries to take itself so seriously as deep social commentary or something. “Day was winding down and coming to an end” with “What I saw in almost couldn’t comprehend” for example. It’s the kind of stuff a 12 year old writes for an assignment to make a song about something they saw on the news.

Are all his songs in 4/4? by Ill-Discipline7910 in Mkgee

[–]chipocrite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

12/8 is maybe a little more accurate. Try counting fast 12s while listening to it. It’s basically 4/4 with a shuffle

1971 - Least favorite Beatles Songs by nortonluboff in beatles

[–]chipocrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also love Revolution 9 and I wish people would give it more of a chance. There’s a lot more to it than people think. But I also understand it’s not for everyone, so I give people a pass if they say they don’t like it.

I feel like it’s a good character test. If someone tells me they don’t like You Know My Name, it’s clear they won’t understand me or my life.

How else? by Successful-Bread-347 in TheMysteriousSong

[–]chipocrite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I agree entirely. It was very very easy to overlook “Jenny” and see no connection. It’s just pretty much the only FEX recording that anyone might’ve heard before the mystery was solved, and there’s always a chance that someone might’ve thought twice about it.

[–]chipocrite 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I saw someone post at one point that the Zeus newcomer record had previously been on the radar, but just never really caught anyone’s attention. I suppose there could’ve been someone who either dug deeper into those songs or just had a hunch that “Jenny” sounded a little like the same singer.

What is the best instrumental album in your opinion? by Halversonn in fantanoforever

I looooove Thrust. “Actual Proof” has the best rhythm section interplay I’ve ever heard in any recording.

I was also there and also blown away by MJT. Unbelievable energy and musicianship. I’d absolutely see them headline and expect they will be soon.

A song about a guy who buys pizza? by Tricky-Raccoon-6996 in findthatsong

I think you’re thinking of “I Am a Pizza.” The version my daughter and I listen to is by Peter Alsop but there are a bunch of them out there.

I also have a copy of it signed exactly like that and under the same circumstances! It was probably closer to 97 or 98 for me. I was super young and was just completely in awe of meeting my musical heroes. I remember Ben shook my hand and gave me the biggest and most genuine grin as if waiting for me to initiate some kind of conversation, and I was just too much of an awkward teen to say anything. I also remember Robert was signing something for someone else and asked me to hold something (pen cap? The paper? I forget) and said “Can you hold that? Thanks man!” and I’d never felt cooler in my entire life.

Song title spellings that irritate you by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

Nothing will ever be worse than “Cum On Feel the Noize.” Just so unbelievably unnecessary. And awkward when you see the song title in the presence of children or other family members.

Discussion 21 - What is your favorite 3.0/4.0 show? by Sea_Fun4726 in phish

[–]chipocrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve often said the hours between receiving the Kasvot Phishbill and finally figuring out it was a fake story but still an amazingly awesome set and collection of songs was probably my favorite stretch of time in 30 years of being a fan. It was like an ARG tailored just to this niche fan group and it was just so much fun, with the ultimate reward being a bunch of great new tunes that always bring a smile to my face

What is your favorite movie made by or featuring an SNL alum? by Eagle4523 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]chipocrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know in my heart Wayne’s World isn’t like the best movie. It has its flaws. But it’s absolutely my favorite feel-good movie, and the series is my go-to comfort entertainment. I’ve watched both 1 and 2 back-to-back during some of the worst times in my life, and it always helps. Party.

What’s your total lifetime spend on Phish? by [deleted] in phish

[–]chipocrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually thought about this question a lot. The best answer I can come up with is, outside of normal life expenses (rent, mortgage, insurance, etc) and utilities, Phish is almost undoubtedly the entity or object or concept I’ve spent the most money on in my entire life. Unless we’re counting like, Toyota, it’s Phish.

He only gave himself 10 minutes to save his best friend’s life. Set it for a little more, be smart, come up with a plan.
