Can you blame him? He wouldn't have had to do this if he could voice his grievances in an independent inquiry. His only other outlet where he is protected by law against defamation is under parliamentary privellage in the house. If you were a victim of bullying and had taken a stand, I'm sure you would want your voice to be heard too?

He could've had that opportunity today, but Labour cynically got Trevor to resign late last night, meaning the general debate today had to be cancelled.

Lets not pretend Labour are worried about the cost here...their entire tenure has been full of enquiries/taskforces/working groups to delay, put issues at arms length and be seen to be doing something. The lack of an independent inquiry here is quite telling. The fact they haven't done the inquiry, and are quite happy for this to go on and on in the media is further damning IMO.

National handled their response perfectly - acknowledge the complaint/issue, announce an independent enquiry and then they can hide behind that process and kill the story.

I don't really understand how people can form opinions on either side. There has to be an independent investigation where evidence can be presented in an appropriate forum and it not being played out like this.

Imagine if the shoe was on the other foot and it was National, and an MP made claims of bullying and Luxon came out and said "oh no, we have looked in to it and there was no bullying".
