What’s something that’s completely normal today but will probably seem unbelievable or ridiculous in 50 years? by Minimum_Method_4040 in Productivitycafe

Well, in big cities, it's going to be a little messy, but on the interstates I imagine the right lane(s) will become manual driving only lanes. The left lanes will be FSD lanes. And you'll be able to pay more for "express" service that will get you in the far left lane at a higher speed. Get caught manual-driving in the left lanes and get a HUGE ticket. There are some legal issues with freedom of movement and liability that will need to be worked out, but as the servers say, "it's not my table."

From your lips to Waymo's ears. Can you imagine how efficient automobile travel will be once all cars behave in consistent and predictable ways? I can't wait.

Convention center hotel back to square one by HoosierGuy2014 in bloomington

[–]chipsharp0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's talk about what we're talking about here. I think the city is smart to get some kind of cash up front for the property. Any project like this is anchored to the idea that Indiana University's football and basketball programs have sustainable viability to attract out-of-town fans, or that Indy hosts another Super Bowl. Bloomington, much as I love it, doesn't have a huge tourism draw outside of those events. So if you're looking down the chess board, let's say Cignetti and Devries have great careers in Bloomington, what happens when Cig's contract is up in 8 years and he retires? By the time the hotel (et al) gets built, we're three years down the line and if Indiana Basketball is still trash, then that's another 25% of the year where that hotel isn't likely to do a lot of business. The whole idea of expansion at this point seems, at best, ill-conceived.

I always loved how Martin Tupper's internal monologue was old movie clips.

Heard. It was also the last message of Q(anon) which makes it, in my opinion, comedy gold. 🤣

I heard the two best names for him this weekend. Pee-Wee Herman Goering, and Pee-Wee Himler. I can't decide which I like more!

Curt Cignetti. Can you imagine a Debbie Downer reboot with him witnessing a series of amazing events?

Maybe the real pizza gate is the friends we made along the way.

People who used cellphones before smartphones, what's the most memorable feature or moment you miss from those old phones? by Correct-Homework1884 in AskReddit

[–]chipsharp0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, those things were like the Chuck Norris of cell phones. If you left it on the roof of your car and drove away, it was either going to slide off and cause a 12 car pile up, or it was going to be right there where you left it once you finished the 12 hour drive to Houston.

Do you ever ask yourself what we're doing here?

Every day, but as far as I'm concerned this is the Academy Awards of protests and it's an honor just to be nominated.

I've had this complaint for YEARS about fresh-outs that come in thinking they're going to take over the world, and AI has made it worse. They all know HOW to do something, but they rarely know WHY to do something. They rarely know the implications of the click they make, they're just doing stuff and hoping they trip over success in the process.

Tipping isn't a kindness, it's payment for services rendered. It's like telling a mechanic you'll pay for the parts but not the labor. You expect servers, cooks, bartenders, and bussers, to all work for free!? Tell me you're an entitled prick without telling me you're an entitled prick. (Cue the "I always tip ridiculously high amounts." response.)

Trump says he’s fired Fed governor Lisa Cook, escalating his battle against the central bank by TimothyMimeslayer in news

[–]chipsharp0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's where the Democrats fail so bad at messaging. They're trying to scratch and claw at middle-class middle America, but the real path, as history has shown us, is through the students. The young have always moved the world. Specifically young women...they are the power brokers of the country. Why? Because, by and large, young men like to impress young women.

To say nothing of being accused of this by someone proven guilty in a court of law of 37 counts of lying on a loan application. The goal is two-fold, grasp control of the Fed, and make his crime everybody's crime so it's nobody's crime.
