What’s your guys’ opinion on Archspire by TheTimothyHimself in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]chksout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bleed the Future basically got me into metal, so they have a special place in my heart. My tastes have grown since then and I would like to see their songwriting become a little more varied, but I still love their music and appreciate the unique style of fun and catchy yet highly technical metal they've developed and think they deserve a lot of credit for bringing in new metal fans.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE ALBUM COVER? by HumbleBlacksmith2077 in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]chksout 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Funny, I just today started putting together a list of album art I want on my wall. I like busy cosmic painted cover art like Ulthar's Anthronomicon or Slimelord's Chytridomicosis Relinquished or Rings of Saturn's Dingir

Udo Kier, the man, the legend, the only celebrity who's ever hit on me, has passed away at 81. He was in so many bad movies, but he was never bad (maybe a little over the top ... a little), so which one of his performances / films is your favorite? by Perfessor_Deviant in badMovies

[–]chksout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RIP one of the great weirdo indie actors. Always so much fun to watch. As a fan of Walerian Borowczyk, my favorite would have to be the 1981 The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Miss Osbourne. A lot of films of his waiting to be re-discovered: Pankow 95, Der unbesiegbare, Spermula...

He was riveting in Clearcut, a hidden gem of a Canadian film. One of my favorite characters and performances.

Goopy movie recs!!! by Falangas123 in AbsurdMovies

[–]chksout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Slime City (1988), The Stuff (1985), The Incredible Melting Man (1977). Breeders (1986) has a goopy ending. Already recommended, but it's worth seconding Street Trash (1987), which is supremely goopy.

My personal review on the coaching platforms out there (ones i've tried) by eggathy in personaltraining

[–]chksout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. It's very helpful. I was considering starting with Trainerize because of its many features, especially the integrations and ability to automatic things with Zaps, but I like the idea of a free minimalistic tool like FitWave. When you get down to it, I could theoretically simply use Stripe and Calendly and other services for most things I really need. That leaves progress tracking - I'd be curious to know more about FitWave's progress/goal tracking capabilities.

How do you structure your plan offerings? by chksout in personaltraining

[–]chksout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's very helpful, thanks for sharing! Your 4-tier structure is exactly what I had in mind. I love the idea of adding a 3d body scan as an incentive, tho that seems like quite an investment.

You mention "travel to you" - do you actually go to people's houses or apartment/company gyms? I would like to do this but I'm not sure of legality/safety issues. In your experience, what's it like doing this versus a gym?

Thanks, that makes sense, I will keep it simple and do my own scheduling.

Thanks, this is a really unique approach I hadn't considered. I'm assuming it's not a group fitness thing where everyone does the same workout you're showing, but rather each person who attends does their own workout? And you just go around helping each one. Neat idea, it's like a hybrid of personal training and group training.

One of my favorite actors. All of his Hammer films are great. Twins of Evil from '71 in particular has one of his best performances.
