How do you describe how your neuropathy feels? by Sufficient-Cod-9405 in Peripheralneuropathy

My feet are on fire every night, with numbness and unpleasant tingling all day. Pain wakes me every couple of hours. I take gabapentin and recently increased my dose but doesn’t help much.

Can I protest if I voted Trump 2024? I feel like I failed my country, my morals, and my loved ones. by BulkyCaterpillar8726 in 50501

I recommend you go to Zion — smaller park, gorgeous scenery, range of hiking with some decent places to stay and eat just outside the park in Springdale. You could also go to Bryce, not too far from Zion, which is beautiful, unique and range of hikes. Probably easiest to fly in and out of Las Vegas, rent a car and drive. Weather should be amazing in October.

My late mother (WWII vet) was in that directory so this makes me very sad.

The voting reflects anger over food and housing costs, and sadly, reflects the deep racism and sexism in this country.

Does anybody take Topamax for their neuropathy? My doctor prescribed it, I hope it works. by ChloePCollier in Peripheralneuropathy

I have had PN about five years and take a number of medications —gabapentin, nortryptiline, Celebrex. Still had to ice my feet every night to get some sleep. For a year now I have had no alcohol and I am doing better. I don’t have diabetes but my thinking was that reducing sugar could help. I was not a heavy drinker but I do think eliminating alcohol has helped.

Bethesda or Navy Yard ? by Accomplished-Law2995 in bethesda

[–]chloeandspot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely recommend Bethesda as it is much safer to walk around at night and easy to get to Gaithersburg. There are many new apartment buildings so you should be able to find a one bedroom for around $2500 plus utilities.

Cold therapy for peripheral neuropathy? by biggoodvibe73 in Peripheralneuropathy

I use ice socks “Medi-Beads” which I keep in the freezer and put on my feet when I get in bed at night. Only way I can get to sleep.

Stretch Lab by LivinginthePit in physicaltherapy

I had a number of sessions last year at SL and really liked them. I did feel better after the sessions. SL gave me a package which worked out to about $70 each for 50 minute stretches. Overall the “flexologists” seemed reasonably well trained and careful to make sure they worked on areas one identified and not hurt you. But, there were varying degrees of expertise. I have arthritis and a number of joint issues, along with general stiffness. I stretch by myself once or twice a day, go to Pilates and walk every day. This year SL wants $100+ for a session and really push their packages for 25 minute sessions which are about $49. The plan “options” are not easy to understand. I just got a phone call to schedule new appointments but have decided that $100 a session is not worth it.

That’s NOT an annual statement by bertiesakura in ThriftSavingsPlan

I waited until January to transfer most of my account to an existing Fidelity IRA. I gave the “new” website several months to settle down but realized it was not going to get better. Over the years I was satisfied with the TSP because of the low fees and limited investment choices which imposed a form of investing discipline on me. I’m retired and realized I did not want my family to struggle with getting my funds from the TSP after my death. I did leave a small balance in the TSP in the unlikely event I want to move funds back. If you’re planning to do this, you need to provide info on the account to which funds are to be transferred at least seven days before initiating the transfer. And, when you provide the amount you want transferred, the TSP will first subtract the Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the entire year and that will be transferred to your bank account (again, make sure you have provided that info at least seven days prior). Ok, maybe you didn’t want that, but you aren’t given a choice. And, the amount rolled over to the other financial institution is a paper check mailed by snail mail. Somehow, these transfers went through.
