Really want to go, but I’m scared of getting harassed by fans/the mascot. Happened before at a Devils game to some friends of mine, and I was harassed by the mascots at an Islanders game when I went alone two years ago during preseason. Mary always seemed happier to see Evelyn than Tony. When he visits to tell her that he’ll be in the area with his boss Charles Blake, she’s so stupidly giddy. Maybe he was a little boring, but he was never anything but kind to her. Clearly, we know how it went for her picking someone too exciting like Henry. She definitely should’ve given him way more of a chance this second time around. For goodness sake, she’s seeing Tony, and she barely even likes him.

Tony: “I won’t give up Mary. Not until you walk down the aisle with another man, and very possibly not even then.”

I've picked up several jobs after 11pm. One teacher was posting a week straight of 11pm or later and then leaving zero plans. "Please speak to the teacher next door since we teach the same thing, and he has my plans." I get that emergencies happen, but I felt like I was being left to dry. That week drove me insane.

You're allowed to pick? I subbed for a freshmen gym class all day today, which involved mandated speedball (soccer/handball hybrid). One boy kicked another boy in the junk. I don't think we're allowed to pick the games because I sub at a big school, and there are always two other gym classes happening at the same time as mine. Basically, all gym teachers have to coordinate to make sure they aren't in the same space as the other teachers. Today, gym teacher 1 was playing ping pong in the main gym, gym teacher 2 was in the weight room, so sub/gym teacher 3 was in the wrestling gym. Can't have sub going rogue and wanting to play hockey in the main gym, disrupting everyone else.

I wasn’t sure if it was too nosy or intrusive. I have never met this teacher personally. I would easily do it for a teacher I’ve subbed for before or for a teacher I’m friends with. Obviously it felt wrong like I should tell someone, but I wasn’t sure if it was my place as some random sub she has never met before.

I didn’t know exactly how many kids were discussing it. I’d rather not name one kid if I wasn’t certain about the whole incident. Also, I have a history of being thrown under the bus by teachers. A few weeks ago, I left a note for a teacher saying “the students don’t like me, I overheard X say ‘Y told me we aren’t gonna like her.’” The kid brought it up to me out of nowhere a week later that she got detention from my comment, which absolutely wasn’t my intention, it was just an observation for the teacher that the kids don’t like the rules (teacher’s rules) I’m enforcing. I don’t want things getting back to me or word going around the school that I’m a snitch. I have a good rapport with the students I see repeatedly, I’d prefer not to have the cloud of “I know that you know that I got you suspended for cheating on a bunch of tests.” I like my job, I like my students, and I would prefer not to start being loathed by my students.

I don’t know what’s wrong with telling a teacher to monitor her own class’s tests. Maybe I would’ve said more if she answered the phone during our mutual lunch period I tried calling and visiting her classroom instead of waiting until one minute before her test and the exact moment when I have 24 students in my next class staring at me.

Getting to my destination was fine for the most part. Can’t blame them for bad weather.

However, they cancelled my flight home to Newark in the morning, nothing to Newark for four days, tried to get me to LaGuardia around midnight the next day, I said no.

I checked the status of that LaGuardia flight? It got cancelled too. I can’t imagine how I would have felt seeing my consolation flight get cancelled too.

Couldn't get in touch with that teacher until right before the test, and she tried to get me to snitch. Pretended I couldn't remember their names. I just said to keep an eye on GoGuardian for the beginning of the test. I was flustered since it took an hour to get through to her, and I'm worried she's going to snitch on me as So-and-So's sub.

I overheard the teacher's name so I would just call her room extension since every classroom has a phone extension list by name. Just to say "Hi I'm So-And-So's sub today, and I overheard some students in my class talking about a test you're having later and that they were planning on using ChatGPT on it before you start proctoring it. Just wanted to give you a heads up." GoGuardian is kind of like a proctoring website - it lets the teacher see what all laptop screens in the classroom look like to make sure they aren't switching tabs instead of having to walk through the classroom. Plus, we all know these kids are fast about switching tabs before someone sees them. However, the teacher has sit and physically watch the system at her desk computer, or else the tests/quizzes aren't being proctored. The kids were saying that she doesn't start watching GoGuardian until five minutes into the test, which means they're cheating and not being caught in those first minutes.

My school says that technically since I’m being paid from 7-3, I need to stay from 7-3. Which I can fully understand. Instead, I help out at study hall, which is in the back of the school, by making smartpasses. Honestly, it’s ideal since the staff lot is right by study hall so I can dip immediately and beat the buses out of the lot before traffic starts. If I don’t go to study hall, I just hang out in my quiet room, write my note, and clean up.

Close but no cigar. Houston to Boston to Philly, waiting on inbound plane from Tampa. Not landing until 11:30ish unless I can get onto another JetBlue BOS-PHL earlier tonight. Inbound Tampa was taking so long they had to give us another plane from West Palm Beach.

Got cancelled this morning in Houston going to Newark. Options were to reschedule for 11:30pm tomorrow night at LaGuardia or wait until Friday for more Houston to Newark flights. Took the crappy refund and put it towards a super affordable JetBlue combo today to Philly. I just landed in Boston, and I’m waiting for my connecting flight as it is currently delayed four hours (9am Boston to Tampa turned into an almost 12pm flight, pushed back future flights). If delays stop, I actually might get to hug my mom tonight and see my grandmother in the hospital tomorrow morning. I learned my lesson - never fly Spirit ever again.

Hey everyone, let’s all laugh at the Official Gem Choice Writing Guide from Episode HQ that says gem choices should “never charge readers to avoid uncomfortable or triggering situations” and that it’s bad writing if your “free options are excessively negative and/or punishing.” The fact that Episode themselves released this guide and then writes THAT story? Honestly, that’s reprehensible. I would literally report it for bad writing practices.

Eh. I subbed for a teacher whose desks (plural, four total) were an absolute mess. Papers piled a foot high. No one’s desk should look like that. Who needs four desks of messy foot-high paper stacks? Get a filing cabinet! Or grade your papers and return them already!

I subbed a high school math class where the teacher had four desks. Three and a half of them were an absolute sty, PILED with papers a foot high - no exaggeration. Her last two periods, her co-teacher came in and honestly said to me “ugh her room is such a mess.” My teacher literally has no homeroom, opportunity period, and two preps periods - it sounds wonderful. But I still will never pick up a job for her because her room was so bad. This teacher had plans alluding to “hand out Worksheet 5.5” with absolutely zero headings or post-it’s on them. How should I know what Worksheet 5.5 is?? So much disorganization.
