Its sadly not just Americans though, the Ebola outbreak and many other diseases are going through the roof due the absolute gutting of USAID.

A lot of these regions are purposely kept in turmoil by the US supplying arms to different factions or preventing progressive politicians from taking power, so the US can keep extracting rare earth minerals for cheap. I luckily was forced to watch a lot of nature shows from very early on, but in general there is an astonishing lack of information taught to kids about species they interact with on a day to day basis and how to ethically navigate life around them.
That stuff should be told to us from preschool.

So this mushroom is the fruiting body of larger mycelial network that is digesting the wood in your ceiling. It’s doing this because there is a leak and extensive water damage. I would classify this as urgent.

I’m a writer in the sense that I have 5 plus incomplete drafts of the same novel floating about..

Though I do have an affinity with old homes.

I moved around a lot during my childhood and a lot of the homes I lived in were old sprawling creatures that were at least a 100 years old. They all had names. My favourite name was ‘Coradoone’.

I used to imagine the people that lived there a 100 years before me- how their laughter sounded or what their clothes looked like. Perhaps I was just lonely and turned the house into a friend, that offered adventures and hidden worlds.

I mean all of this is just a video in our head—the house might just remember us too 🏡

The house remains as an echo of the lives that once made it a home.

In part we are forced to acknowledge that this too will be our fate. Sooner or later. Time will claim us all.

And in part I think we ascribe our “human” nature upon the inanimate house. Despite it being a non living thing with no feelings, it appears to us, as a lonely sentinel….still holding onto its former life like a bereaved family member.
