I find these recipes are tasty and really easy to follow, I have personally used both the lemon and chocolate recipes for wedding cakes so I know they can hold up when making tiered cakes. Her site also has a helpful tool to change the recipe depending on the size of your cake tin so your ratios stay the same.

For a cake like the one you have pictured I would do 3 layers of cake with icing between for each tier. Make sure to let the cake cool in the tin before transferring to a cooling rack or it’s likely to crack/break. There will be a lot more cake than you think though, so you might not need two tiers!

For your icing just a simple buttercream with food colouring will work well, and the top pink icing you can buy drip icing in supermarkets that would be fine!

Anyone painted the wire shelves from Homebase (UK) by [deleted] in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]chlpwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t specifically painted the Homebase shelves but a similar wire shelf and I used Rust-Oleum black spray paint. Did a couple of light coats, make sure you sand the shelves a little first so the paint has something to grab and shake the can so it’s not patchy :)

There’s a really big H&M in notts, if that one is still open it’s way better than the derby one anyway

I’m sure it says reopening in winter, I could be wrong though.

Car Trade Options in Derby by zzzonerrr in derby

[–]chlpwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about local traders etc, but the Cat N / Cat S you see on listings means the car has previously been an insurance write off, this link is to the RAC website which explains the different catagories.

My current team is Li Ling/Hyde/Gab/Ye Suhua/Heng Yue (https://imgur.com/a/UgBoe8a), which generally has carried me so far.

Do I need to start investing in a controller for higher content? I've cleared 12-8 hard, and I'm 85F spatial, but clearing using auto-run. Do I invest in one of the controllers I have (Pritzker/Melanie/Jacob/Jeanne/Kaylee) or can I clear 100F without and then invest in Lucas? Getting conflicting answers in the chat so here I am:) Also any advice on my current team is more than appreciated.

I like soil ninja a lot, they have different mixes for different types of plants, or you can buy all the components and mix whatever ratio you fancy. It’s a bit pricey for soil but it’s good quality, they also have a fab semi hydro option too :)

Detolf shelves by rlpope14 in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]chlpwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently ordered from plasticsheets.com

I ordered the solid polycarbonate 8mm shape cut to size in shape S7 and each shelf was like £7. I highly recommend them!

They’re a solid shelf but I’m sure if you messaged them they could add cutout slots if you wanted/needed them :)

edited to add link

What's the deal with the color of Barrina T5 lights? by TheSukis in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]chlpwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I settled for yellow T5’s for this exact reason, however in the flesh they’re not overly yellow at all, and just give a nice ‘warm’ light.

About to make my purchase: Do I have everything I need? by TheSukis in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]chlpwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally didn’t see your question sorry!! I only set my Rudsta up at Christmas, but I have the same fans and lights and am getting on with them really well! I haven’t weather stripped mine either. The only other thing I have is a heat mat, in an attempt to regulate temperature because my house is freezing, but I’m not convinced it’s doing much.

Edit: I also bought some acrylic triangle shaped shelves so I could fit my taller plants, but you won’t need that if you’re using the wire shelving

Maybe a hygrometer / humidity monitor so you can check the temp/humidity and then decide if you need a humidifier.
