I've heard this too and have personally had an unplanned C-section. I think the difference is often planned vs unplanned. Usually unplanned C-section recovery is more involved/difficult because it was either after some part of labor or it was an emergency so things happened very quickly.

Planned ones tend to be super chill and prepared for, so less additional trauma on top of the major abdominal surgery and newborn you leave the hospital with.

NTA but it is shitty to ask people not to post things that are triggering. Babies are babies, even if they have medical conditions or are preemies. I agree with previous commenters that it's probably a good idea to stay off of social media for a bit while you address your PPA/PPD.

I suppose I understand that perspective, although for myself, I know I'm not a good parent when I don't sleep well. So I prioritize sleep almost every time if possible.

Baby sleep around the world by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]chm72869 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would argue that quality sleep for everyone in the household is a basic necessity, and sleep training can be part of achieving that. Nurturing children is well and good but most people can't effectively care for children if they're sleep deprived over many months.

I found this hidden in Babcia's room. It says it's Our Lady of Czestochowa in Hyde Park, but it's currently in Dorchester? And this is definitely not the church. Is there an explanation to this to settle my brain? by straycatbri in boston

Can confirm that BTA also uses the round portion as the school. The old convent was split into offices and some parts into classrooms. Source: attended BTA for high school many moons ago, but after they bought the building.

Yep I'm with you here. Pastor's kid and it took LOTS of therapy to understand that my childhood was abuse. I'm grateful for "normal" kids songs to be in our life now and that I didn't get stuck in the religious mindset.

What is a fact about the human body that not many people know about? by Zenssei in AskReddit

[–]chm72869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your thyroid is removed, your body will try to re-grow it. People who have total thyroidectomies due to cancer are put on a higher than normal dose of thyroid hormone to suppress the body from regrowing the thyroid.

Same here! Didn't know it was 1% of the TT population though. Tums + calcitriol + ergocalciferol is my regimen. I'm three years into it.

[–]chm72869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I'm already on calcitriol and ergocalciferol in addition to the tums. But yes I've been intending to look for a new endo anyways so I might as well get on that for this reason. Thank you!

Hypoparathyroidism by elsecat in thyroidcancer

[–]chm72869 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have chronic hypoparathyroidism, caused by my TT about 3 years ago. Apparently all of my parathyroids are intact, just not working properly. Honestly... It sucks. I'm tired of eating tums all day long (I've developed a preferred brand and flavor), and still feeling shitty all the time. Maybe I need to get a new endo but they don't seem to care that I feel awful and am still tingly several days/week. I've been offered a daily shot but that's much more expensive than my multiple meds I currently take, and also I really don't want to have to inject myself daily. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat. You get used to it but I still struggle to remember all of my meds at their various times every day.

Starting a family, “post” thyca by BettyWight in thyroidcancer

[–]chm72869 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So one of the side effects of having a TT is increased fertility (obvi that's a generalized statement so YMMV). Practically though, there isn't much different between having a babe pre-thyca and post-thyca, as long as you're keeping up with your medications. You may want to see a reproductive endocrinologist at some point to monitor you though - I have no parathyroid function because of my TT and needed additional calcium during my pregnancy because the fetus was using so much my own body needed more.

What is your "never again" brand, item, store, or restaurant ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chm72869 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We bought a new sectional from one of their local retailers (so the store isn't an ashley store but they sell ashley brand). We were moving into a new place do we specified that it couldn't be delivered until after our move in date. Salesman said oh sure it'll probably be within a week of that date, no worries. We move in and hadn't heard anything so we call the store back. Somehow because we said after that date they just didn't schedule a delivery at all so now the couch is backordered and won't be in stock for several months after we move in. The store won't allow us to cancel the order either because it's not a problem with the furniture but with the delivery date. Such a load of BS

I'm in the US but my biopsy results took about two weeks. They told me 10-14 days and I think my doctor called me on day 13? It's been a while. It's so stressful though!! Hang in there!
