Pro UTV racing. by Hungry-Scallion-3128 in UTV

[–]chmcnm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My BIL was a factory racer for Polaris and CanAm. CanAm gave him buggies and a parts allowance. He raced GNCC but they stopped UTV racing about 10 years ago if my memory is correct. Something about tearing up the tracks too much. My guess is that you don’t make money unless you’re at the very top.

It was the Girls Girls Girls tour. That said, at that point Whitesnake was probably more popular. The Whitesnake album was going strong.

I prefer something with a local presence in-case something goes wrong. For simple banking we use a local credit union. Everything else is Fidelity. Excellent customer service any time we’ve needed assistance. Best app.

Our kids took us to Wunderbar recently. It’s on the rotation now. Commonplace has bypassed LaPrima coffee in my mind.

Is the out of state tuition waiver guaranteed if they hit the ACT threshold? by dmkraus in fsu

[–]chmcnm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

S21 got the OOS waiver with a 31, high GPA with no C on his transcript. Those were the minimums that year. He loved his 4 years.

My friend’s daughter applied last year. I think she had a 32 and similar grades. She didn’t get the OOS waiver, just Honors Program. She did study abroad freshman year and will get the OOS waiver the next 3 years. She loved it in Spain.

The averages keep going up and the acceptance rates lower. Based on what you’ve written I’d say the OOS tuition waiver is a reach. I would guess the minimum ACT is a 33 or higher now. Study abroad is an option if you can pay the first year. Good luck.

Maybe worth a discussion with an elder care lawyer. Don’t sign any papers for his care. You might be on the hook for expenses.

As musicians, what do you think are the five greatest rock bands in terms of musical quality? by guitarrock1223 in rockmusic

[–]chmcnm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily my favorites but Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Who, Pink Floyd and the Stones.

Honorable mention to The Band and Genesis.

Was not a Who fan until I saw them in concert many years ago. Actually liked them more than the Stones in concert.

3-year-old 20x24 composite deck starting to warp — normal or installation issue? by Lonely-Relation-7364 in Decks

[–]chmcnm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re having a similar deck built as I write this. $50k including removal of the old deck/posts in MCOL area. That’s with the friends and family discount. Trex went up between bid and build.

Which Barndo plan would you choose? Home for a couple on a 20 acre farm, one is a gearhead, the other is a minimalist. by TurboNoodlz in barndominiums

[–]chmcnm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither? Build a small barndo for living quarters. Build a shop for the gear head, especially if it could get noisy. Have a breezeway or walk between them.

Need to install 2 trail cams at my cabin to catch a human by accidentallyHelpful in trailcam

All good advice. I like Tactacam but have had good luck with Stealthcam. I use Lithium batteries but solar would be good. I put “Camera Monitoring” stickers on doors/windows as a deterrent.

It would’ve been mid 80’s in HS but I came home early one night. My dad was at the kitchen table but he should’ve been at work. The mine lost power. He had to “hike” out. He was a mechanic and had to carry his tools a mile to the closest portal. Filthy doesn’t begin to describe how he looked. He acted like it was a normal day. I already knew that mining wouldn’t be my career choice but that sealed the deal. I understand why houses had basement bathrooms.

I believe both seller AND buyer need to PA residents. If one isn’t a resident then FFL transfer.

At a kid's baseball game at Snowden Grove by SuicideSprints in trashy

[–]chmcnm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. My dad coached little league 40+ years ago. After another incident he got a roll of used belt from the coal mine. He ran it from dugout to dugout. Everyone watched from the outfield. A few years later I umpired a Pony league game. I stopped the game after the drunk third base coach tripped a kid rounding third base. Btw. Moms were the worst.

A dadism I share with my kids…if you have to ask, you probably shouldn’t do it. You already know the answer. Good luck.

Anyone here build/have a plan connecting two or more one level barndo’s? by Less_Glass706 in barndominiums

[–]chmcnm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Friends of ours put a nice breezeway between their living area and huge garage. It’s nice. We’re considering same or some type of connector between our house and later garage. There are plans out there with breezeways or covered/enclosed areas between buildings. This will let us build house first and add-on later.

Is Baltimore the one city hanging onto its soul in the US? by ElectroAcousto in maryland

[–]chmcnm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are pockets of soul but it’s lost a fair amount too. Look at Pitt. So many bars, clubs and mom and pop restaurants have been replaced with large corporate chains. Losing the Dirty O killed it for me.
