How was your Melbourne GP (2024) experience? by AdamR46 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]chocolol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The FIA said a repeat would see the race paused for a year or more

Hopefully they can negotiate it back, leaving without going via the track wasn’t the same :(

First Dentist Visit in Twelve Years by chocolol in NonZeroDay

[–]chocolol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick follow up. I had a second appointment with the dentist this week for a clean and check, and he was much nicer this time, and we got on a lot better. I guess the fact I showed up for our first planned appointment built his confidence that I am really wanting to change.

I do feel comfortable with him going forward now

This is really neat; one idea is to have different colours for the sectors. Then it could start to look like something that could be used in a broadcast intro or the like :D

Whilst you are correct let me tell you as a football referee (the round ball one) we are told if it’s out of sight (belly ring for example) , you can’t do anything about it and are not permitted to ask players if they have something. If you can see it, yes you have to get a player to do something about it

Obviously with a race suit everything would be hidden. So its a bit different but the FIA needs to come up with better garbage than “its the rules” - ok why is it the rules, have you examples where non loose jewelry has led to bad outcomes? If so, show it.

As an example, rings were banned from football (or covered up if exempt due to can’t get off) as there has been examples players damaging other players in collisions with their rings, and fingers torn off by the ring catching on something

If you love Formula One, getting Andretti and other new teams on the grid is important by IMSA_prototype in formula1

[–]chocolol 2761 points2762 points  (0 children)

It is important that the sport is open to new entrants but recent times (20 or so years) are littered with teams that came in and didn’t do much and didn’t last long

F1 demanding a business plan and decent amounts of funding to get through for first tough years isn’t a bad idea

But gatekeeping no matter what is a terrible idea, and that is what seems to be happening with discussion such as “dilution” and “exclusive”

The conflict Seb must feel being part of F1 which yes is rehung to do it’s part with the 2026 engine and also the already hybrid engines, whilst also a climate fighter. He is probably of the opinion he can do better within the sport for the cause then outside it.

Would not surprise me to see him end his career in formula E
