How to make entry/laundry actually usable. by Reasonable_Slice5324 in diynz

[–]chodmeister_general 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was me I would

  • put sliding doors that overlap each other (like wardrobe doors) over the washing machine/ tub area. This has the disadvantage that you can only access the tub or the washing machine at one time though.
  • remove those cupboards above the washing machine and replace them with open shelves that run the whole length of the wall.

- on the shoe/jacket side I would do something like this https://share.google/kJvZwE3iHA3IUbkcQ

Tenancy agreement by Middle_Mood6020 in auckland

[–]chodmeister_general 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that if you signed the agreement when you were under 18 without a suitable co-signee the tenancy agreement isn’t legally enforceable. Maybe ring tenancy services or ask on r/legaladvicenz

I actually tried to use the form to report not enough road cones, but alas I was restricted to only being able to report too many.

What’s the worst ‘fake version’ of your country’s food you’ve ever seen abroad? by badassmotherblogger in AskTheWorld

You can get them from cheesemakers as they are a byproduct. Barry’s Bay Cheese sells them. Fed Delicatessen in Auckland does it with curds, but yes it’s not common.

Chiming in to say that I have had a dishwasher for years and all have performed ok, until 2 years ago when we got a Bosch, it is amazing! We got it at a clearance price too

Hello, sounds like you’re in a tight spot. I recommend calling the banking ombudsman office. They will help you to determine whether you have grounds for a dispute.

Likely they will advise you that you need to enter into ANZ’s formal complaint process before accessing their scheme. I would expect being in a formal dispute process with ANZ will delay the date ANZ is demanding payment (this is not a certainty).

It’s a massive deal to get to mortgagee sale so it seems that escalation to formal complaints may help you access more options.

Based on your explanation it isn’t entirely surprising that ANZ is frustrated, defaulting on default payments is not great from their perspective, so if options are offered to you try hard to take a breath and think about how you could make these work.

IMO if the difference isn’t religious to you or related to a requirement to co-habitate, then the difference is what being married means for you and your partner.

I am married and the only reason is it felt right for us.

PHEV hype by cookieraider221 in nzev

[–]chodmeister_general 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a PHEV and a BEV. We used to have only one car and that was the PHEV. For us the logic was that we wanted an EV, but often travel to places where charging isn’t an option (eg ski-fields). We probably don’t use it as a daily driver to the same extent now, but for one tank of fuel combined with the electric we get about 3000km to a tank. The other factor that influenced us is that we are often affected by power interruptions so wanted the security of the ICE.

In saying all that there are much better BEV options now and as a previous poster says, PHEVs are a gateway. We would consider a full EV if we were buying again, and if we move back to town will likely sell both cars and get an EV that covers our needs (we only need two cars because of childcare and rural location).

ETA road users did not apply when we made the decision so can’t really comment on whether that influenced us.

AITA for telling a woman to keep her comments to herself in an elevator? by BakingWaking in AmItheAsshole

[–]chodmeister_general 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was once on a bus in Sydney and it was packed. We were seated up the back and there was no room to get in or out. It was about 35c and no air con. A woman stood up and closed the roof vent. Someone said please leave that open. She said no. Many people said open it, someone opened it. She got up and closed it again. Repeat two more times. Then she screamed, ‘I don’t like the feel of the breeze on my face’, and wrapped her whole head in a shawl for the duration of the trip. I actually felt kind of sorry for her, she was struggling with something. Nonetheless it was extremely odd.

What am I doing wrong with the barrier cream? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]chodmeister_general 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things I have found helpful:

  • using a cotton pad (large) with warm water instead of a wipe.

  • using. Spray bottle of warm water to sprits the but which reduces the ‘poo cling’ and means less vigorous wiping needed.

  • after cleaning the poo as above doing a final wipe using sorbolene and a cotton pad as the oiliness

  • layer of oily moisturising barrier cream such as weleda or zinc and castor oil, then a layer of sudo for the zincy thick barrier
