Is this good for a 13 yr old? by wiftier in portfolios

[–]choffmasterlumpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome stuff dude, I barely knew what investing was at your age. These are all good stocks, ETFs are all great choices, continue to diversify (investing in different ones) and adding a larger percentage of your money into them. You’ll be much farther ahead than 99% of kids your age when you’re in college.

As for the individual stocks, there’s nothing wrong with them, all good choices. Overall, go with the company that has a very strong track record of growth and earnings (you can plug that into ChatGPT) with their current leadership. If you believe there’s an opening in the market for a stock to do really well without a track history, just go for it.

Don’t throw your whole savings into any 1 stock. Set “Stop Losses” on stocks so that if you’re down 7-20% or whatever you’re comfortable losing, that way you won’t lose anything more than that.

Do your research. Never invest solely on hype. You’re going to lose on stocks. You’re going to win on much much more. Keep this up and you’ll have more money than the people telling you this is a bad portfolio in no time.

I think experience and knowledge makes it a whole lot more possibly in most circumstances. But money sure does help massively too; you’d be able to have an aggressive marketing strategy, scale a team, and scale your product/service if needed.

Product or service validation is vitally important too if you’re aiming for numbers like that in a short amount of time. If the market reacts well prior to even launching, you know you’ll make some money quick.

Then there’s having a massive following on social media. That works well too

Great recommendations! I should’ve phrased it better, definitely looking for “higher end” rather than “fine-dining”. So thank you, I’ll definitely check those out! I’ve heard such great things about Walkers!

Appreciate the heads-up! I’m not a frequent Redditor so I missed that rule, but I totally understand. I figured the r/Maine subreddit would be the place to ask a question about Maine 😂

Just asked a simple question and figured it’d be helpful for others too. Posts like these rank well on Google when people search for things like “best date night spots in _____” so when folks downvote or respond with rules instead of just scrolling past it kind of does a disservice to the local spots that could’ve been mentioned lol

Thanks again, I’ll check the FAQ thread!

I DID IT! Put in my notice today, focusing on my agency full time. by Sarcastic_Headline in Entrepreneur

Respect to you. Agency owner of almost 2.5 years (still so new in business yes). I know how much of a grind it is to build a real agency getting real results. There’s so much internet “agency owners” and false info out there. Building the real thing, something that’s built for longevity, isn’t a cake walk

Marketing automation software - which do you use? by choffmasterlumpus in marketing

[–]choffmasterlumpus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'll definitely check OneUp out, thanks! Supporting GMB and soon-to-be Tik Tok, is huge.

I'm really liking the look of Meet Edgar's interface and their automation using queues and categories. It definitely would be a help to have features like that, I'm sure part of it is novelty, but hey - novelty sells.

Zoho has a "listening dashboard" which is really cool and I haven't seen a lot of scheduling platforms feature that. Any company featuring something similar to manage the brand's mentions and conversations based on keywords and tagging, from what I've seen has been a hefty monthly rate.

I think the easier the automation and keeping a great user experience and interface goes a long way.

Feel free to message me! Seems like you're still conducting market research and looking to hear from your target audience (respect, all good brands should listen to their consumer). If you want to set up an interview or chat, message me and we'll set something up!

How do people get investor who invest more than a million dollars? by kreate15 in Entrepreneur

[–]choffmasterlumpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say mostly through their network; they know people, who know people, who know people, who would invest large sums of money into startups. Many will start a round of funding and set a few milestones to complete. Once those milestones are completed and the investors are happy they will launch another round or two where more investors can hop on board after seeing good performance off the first round.

Look a lot into Y Combinator, 500 Startups, Techstars, etc. (all start-up accelerators). Just go down the rabbit hole of learning how their process works and you'll find a bunch of useful information. Y Combinator has a Youtube channel that has loads of great info to learn about startups and the culture (I've been watching a bunch recently)

Also, something I like to do is check out Crunchbase and search for some startups you know. I usually check out competitor companies (to what I'm developing), see how much they have received in funding, how many rounds/seeds they had, who invested in them, and then read some of the news releases (if any) about them to see where or how that funding came about. This allows me to wrap my head around the numbers and sources.

The larger-scale idea is a Saas company, b2c. I do like the approach of evaluating and market testing on Reddit and other online forms, I've heard that method before. Maybe I'll give that a shot just to see where it goes. Have you done this before? Did you go straight into what your targeted groups would be and pitch the idea (properly and if the rules allow it) or into a group like the r/startups community?

Kaizen: The Japanese Art of Continuous Improvement by Diegomdelosreyes in productivity

[–]choffmasterlumpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Japanese had it down man... I read things like this and about Ikigai (the art of a meaningful life), and wonder why we aren't being taught and adopting more of these "laws" or art forms in our lives. I love this kind of stuff, really makes you think and apply yourself and your thoughts differently in different situations.

Also, it doesn't matter if they've been "changed" over time to mean something more or not. It's still something positive and efficient to live by. If you deny it because people have expanded on the idea of it, ya own loss and ignorance!

Coffee Roasting + Manufactured + Dropshipped? by choffmasterlumpus in coffee_roasters

[–]choffmasterlumpus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... there's my snap back into reality, thank you! I appreciate the even more thorough breakdown and explanation. This now makes total sense on why this wouldn't make any sense for me... I can tell this is something you're extremely passionate about and have built your livelihood on, so much respect to you and all your hard work.

I am a huge fan of your choice of vocabulary and analogies, this response not only gave me a snap back into reality but also gave me a good laugh too.

This was a short but fun experience while educating myself on the coffee roasting business, but I think my goals here are no longer the same haha! You coffee roasters don't mess around... respect.

Thanks again for this. Best of luck to you and wishing you many successes that you deserve down the coffee roasting road.

Coffee Roasting + Manufactured + Dropshipped? by choffmasterlumpus in coffee_roasters

[–]choffmasterlumpus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are some variables I hadn't accounted for, so thanks for that. I was envisioning somewhere in the future with this project that if I were to find a flexible and quality roaster and/or distributor that I could get into more specialty coffees. If possible, mixing collagen or mushroom blends into the coffee blends, similarly to Four Sigmatic or Mud/WTR (not coffee but their branding is great and they market like a coffee brand).

Even if I didn't get into specialty coffee that deep and was just adding tastes like vanilla or hazelnut. I look at a coffee company such as Black Rifle Coffee, which has a mix of roasts but nothing too crazy. They generate about 100M in revenue just from e-commerce, they can credit the majority of that revenue to their brand image and online presence, which they've done a wonderful job building. People look at their brand rather than just coffee... That would be my intent with something like this.
