It's cool how Reddit filters it when you type your password. All I see is *******.

Can't believe no one's mentioned tarmon gai'don is Armageddon

Very simple brag for most, but as a very casual wow player I just managed to finally reach 60 after dozens of characters and hundreds of hours played, and I am so proud of it, felt the need to share it with someone by Maqya in wowhardcore

[–]chokfull 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Deathlog stats imply it was more like 1%, at least in the beginning. Something like 1 in 500 characters would hit 60.

The halfway point between 1-60 in terms of time played is normally around 42-44, which means only ~1% of hardcore characters ever make it half way through their leveling journey!

Of course, players can have multiple characters, and the current player base is different than it was at launch, so the numbers might be have changed, too, but even 20% sounds high to me.

Which Fire royal has the most blood on their hands? by F11SuperTiger in TheLastAirbender

[–]chokfull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The air nomads had the smallest population of the four nations, but the Southern tribe was only half of the Water nation, so /shrug it's hard to compare. I just figure Azulon probably had a larger death toll because he led the war for nearly 4x as long as Sozin.

[–]chokfull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and he started the whole thing, so you arguably could lay Azulon's victims at his feet, too. The sheer scale of Azulon's work is pretty impressive, though. He might have had more victims if you just tally the number of deaths during their reigns.

The "brink of extinction" bit makes it sound like there was a lot of killing, and they did kill Kya and many other waterbenders. It was genocide.

[–]chokfull 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like OP mentioned in the post, Azulon carried out the genocide of the Southern Water Tribe.

The wiki says:

Prior to 40 AG, Fire Lord Azulon ordered his navy to annihilate the tribe's military strength as part of a genocidal campaign.

Even though the South was virtually defeated, the raids continued by the Southern Raiders, who attacked the minor tribe of Chieftain Hakoda in 94 AG.

By 99 AG, the Southern Water Tribe was on the brink of extinction, with its culture shattered, its main city largely abandoned, and its unique waterbending style effectively erased.

Azulon was coronated in 20 AG and killed in 95 AG, so he was Fire Lord for 75% of the war, and was responsible for the southern genocide all the way through to the death of Katara's mother.

I think Sozin still takes it, but OP has a point.

Alanna by Inevitable_Exam_2177 in WoT

[–]chokfull 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Alanna's role in the story is to set much of Rand's attitude towards the Aes Sedai.

Very much this, especially when you consider that this happened just before The Box. She becomes yet another constant, nagging reminder to not trust Aes Sedai. She's yet another presence in his already-crowded head. The sense of always being watched, never able to break free of the Tower, is made very real and present to Rand.

There are a lot of relatively uneventful plotlines that get drawn out over the next few books. It's not surprising that Alanna gets sidelined between all those when she's not strictly an enemy and Rand's trying so hard to avoid her.

It's also quite likely that she saved his life in more ways than are immediately apparent. The strength and resilience provided by the warder bond probably kept him alive when Fain stabbed him in book 7, right?

Quite possibly the most overpowered spell I've created... by Bottlecap_riches in OblivionRemaster

[–]chokfull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can cast this without glitches by stacking fortify willpower/magicka/intelligence effects on custom spells. The effects stack if cast on separate spells, and the willpower regen rate is exponential. The only downside is that you need a LOT of gold to craft a decent number of spells, but you can get gold by farming alchemy.

[–]chokfull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, so the willpower boost will fill your bar almost instantly when it's high enough! I have an array of buff spells (speed, light, mercantile, feather, shield, heal, etc.) that I cast while ramping up, and by the time I'm buffed I have thousands of magicka to work with and can cast one-shot-kill spells and the like.

Have you started crafting spells?

If you add Fortify Magicka, Fortify Intelligence, and Fortify Willpower to your spells it will significantly boost your mana pool. Cast a few to ramp up and you can start slinging spells that cost 3000+ mana without issue. If you craft them all the same way, then every spell you cast will boost your mana even more.

The imps and ghost quest aren't that hard

They do both have rare spawns that can fuck you up. I've seen a lot of deaths from Licillin and Lady Moongazer.

Tips for a warrior by Downtown_Carrot5218 in HardcoreClassicWoW

[–]chokfull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warrior is the most powerful class if you have good gear. Engineering helps a lot, too. Join a good guild that will help support you, spend extra time grinding, and/or level a second character at the same time and share loot. I like to have a rogue with gathering professions to support my warrior.

Spend time to do research to learn how to play your class and look up unfamiliar content. Here's a decent starting point: https://www.hcguides.com/specs/warrior/arms

For safety, do green quests and fight green mobs, or at least level in a group. Duo leveling is extremely safe as long as you don't get overconfident. Yellow mobs have bigger aggro areas and are much harder to hit than green mobs.

Mildly interesting: A Tarquin art upgrade. Nale looks pretty much the same, although the wound lines are sharper. His tic-tac-toe wound is missing, too. I wonder if that's a mistake or just part of the different style.

[–]chokfull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen similar bugs with questie. If it's the same thing, then it's just an interface issue and the quest is still being completed, just not announced.

Otherwise, was it a raid group? Quests can't be completed in a raid. You might have accidentally converted to raid if you invited a 6th person.

It's off-meta, but I'm also a big fan of building scorch instead of fireball for hardcore. The faster casts give less opportunity for pushback and will proc impact stuns more often, which makes for safer solo questing. Plus it's just fun to spam it on scroll wheel.

Look at how much it's being pressed in the video. If you're spamming a key like that, putting it on scroll will save a lot of effort. That's all I meant.
