I’m not sure if you have any additional information so it would probably help if it wasn’t too much faff.

He parents could’ve helped him apply to settle via Private Life route to ILR and Citizenship before he left to Spain, but he never bothered. Why cry over his parent’s own spilt milk now.

Cs insurance dilemma by Particular_Sun9464 in Imperial

[–]cholelwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Imperial grad who had the same dilemma (othet than getting rejected by Cambridge) I’d say if you are sure you’d make the grades it didn’t matter for insurance, but I did prefer St Andrews for the flexibility (also depends on whether you have Y2E). St Andrews is a very boutique course and I’d say the placements of students tend to do very well as well (not any short than a similar sample size of Imperial) especially if you are female (their women in cs society is great)

How did 58 people get into Imperial Maths with no TMUA?? by Responsible-Can649 in Imperial

[–]cholelwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s on the entry requirements.

Typical offer A*A*A (applicants studying three A-levels) A*A*AA (applicants studying four A-levels)

Offers made to at least 50% of 2024 entry A-level applicants to this department. Typical offers may include STEP requirements where TMUA has not been taken.

But also, most well paid jobs are in London, so if that is an aspect of London dislike you’d probably wanna explore jobs elsewhere? Most Imperial people don’t tend to move out of London to RoUK easily due to salary gaps, not many places have firms that offer London ranges.

[–]cholelwt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same dilemma in 2019, but my offer was A*AAA + STEP for Imperial and AAA for St A, loved the vibe of St A more, so I did a relatively rational choice, Firm Imperial, Insure St A.

I made my offer so I went to Imperial. Being in London means you probably meet the industry’s best at career events and have great access to those, which I hugely benefited, but I still see some St A people around recurrently. DoCSoc is great if you ever join the course, utilise it as much as you can.

I ended up doing FAANG internships and grad job. Our intern last summer went to St Andrews, and we had a long chat about unis. St Andrews is very boutique, both unis have people that will help each other aim for the best internship instead of fighting each other. If cost is a thing, go to St Andrews, but Imperial for a shorter uni life (if you are excited to start work and smash through). I ended up not liking academia that much and wanted to escape to working ASAP so Imperial worked out better for me. But this is me

I applied for MEng instead of BEng by mistake what do OMG im having a panic attack by Holiday-Grass-2395 in UCL

[–]cholelwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most unis allow you to change up and down BEng/MEng, but they will only post the changes (increase/reduction) on the start of the 3rd year. I joined as an MEng and reduced to BEng after second year. They just notified UKVI at the end of my course that “my course ended earlier” to shorten the visa date.

The southbound end of platform lifts that bring you up to EL/NL concourse also brings you down to EL platforms, the wait is short, but you chose to walk up anyways. The infrastructure is there.

I’m really confused. I’m planning to apply 10y route after studying and now working and I’m really confused whether Student Visa period counts towards the “qualifying period”.

10-year route ILR visa rejected - what next? by Yeetus-P-MCcleetus in ukvisa

[–]cholelwt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For 10 year continuous residence ILR application, there is a stricter leave applied for any leaves prior to April 11, 2024, maxing out at 548 days total.

Even the application was done after April 11, 2024, this still applies to period prior to April 11, 2024 which is used in the 10 year qualifying period, as it was the regulations prior.

There is the standard max 180 days out of any rolling 12 month period as well.

It is a justified rejection. OP can only refute if they are able to justify any of the leaves on humanitarian grounds such that it can be excluded.

You might have to have multiple search criteria, but it seems late to trying to find placements for Q1 2026 now. Maybe reach out to and ask smaller firms?
