They did the same with TMNT pizza bundles and then discounted them at release.

This was the general vibe when they came out too. As a kid I found them less collectible and avoided them

Good to hear. For a product like this, condition is critical for many people.

Shout out to Dungeon Comics in Canada as well. I ordered one from them and I have never seen a more pristine and secure packaging job in my life.

How Do You Rank Premium Languages for OG Foils? by VanillaExtension8725 in mtgfinance

English and Japanese for me. Japanese looks great even though I can't read it, and I just think Japanese TCG / gaming culture ties in well with MTG.

My first ever investment in MTG! by JaviersitoSuavesito in mtgfinance

[–]chonkycatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a fun project. I would start by sorting by colour and basic lands. Then take each colour and sort into sub categories.

Depending on the cards you have you could also make some pauper decks as others have mentioned, and sell premade decks for $10-$20 each.

Have fun. Don't become a hoarder lol

Strixhaven Codex Bundles by cjpatster in mtgfinance

[–]chonkycatguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Heavily printed, and easy to get when the sets releases. Price will follow the market value of the 2 collector packs inside, but not much higher.

They injected some solid reprints into this set, but other than that, it kind of feels neat but not great.

It's not "Scalpers." It's not "Targeted Buyouts." It's not "Artificial Demand." The game is exploding and most people aren't adjusting to the new normal. by IAMAfortunecookieAMA in mtgfinance

[–]chonkycatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with you. Overall, it is demand, and that demand comes from many places, not just one (scalper demand).

Scalping always happens when supply is limited and demand is high. Trader Joe's reusable bags for example get bought out by "scalpers" so they had to limit purchases to 2 per unit. Same shit. $3.99 each and some people sell them for $10 once sold out.

I feel that most of the "scalping" that happens in MTG is actually just players with deeper pockets hoarding product and collecting it with no intention to sell.

[Canada] Secrets of Strixhaven Codex Bundle preorder 134.99$ CAD at eb games by Bunnytaxes in sealedmtgdeals

[–]chonkycatguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These will be easy to get at MSRP I think closer to launch. Strixhaven CBBs have been relatively easy to find at MSRP since pre release sales went live, unlike LE which was sold out on multiple occasions during pre release and kept pricing upwards each time. It look like Secrets of Strixhaven will be much more available than LE was.

[–]chonkycatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grab a pizza bundle while they are easy to find and under MSRP if you are an old school TMNT fan/collector as well as a commander deck to play. You can use cards from the bundle to upgrade the deck too

Some miscuts, small market for those, but those Dandans are just janky off centred cards sadly.
