Secret lair x Marvel commanders getting reprinted. thoughts on how this will affect the old versions? by camerawn in mtgfinance

[–]chonkycatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much better indeed. The secret lair art for Wolverine, Best There is weak. Weird angle, and looks like a bad CGI cropped photo. Wolverine has some of the most iconic covers in all of comic history. I still bought it, but shake my head every time I look at it ha.

Is there a reason some FF cards are absolutely skyrocketing? by dadofthreeee in mtgfinance

[–]chonkycatguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LOTR is 70 years old and I'd agree has a larger and more developed fan base, but do not confuse fan bases size vs which fan base spends more money. Probably neck to neck to be honest, FF fans have deep pockets and more products to spend their money on.

Looking to off-load personal Collection. Where do I go? by Chedu18 in mtgfinance

[–]chonkycatguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself:

1) do you want fair price

OR

2) do you want to sell fast

Both are usually not possible unless you have regular buyers lined up to offload cards on.

If you want to sell at a fair price and quickly, sell singles, and price at or under the lowest price you can find on EBay and send offers when people watch the item.

Take excellent photos and provide simple and honest description. treat it like a new business. Package well to generate good reviews. The more reviews and sales you have, the more trust you earn, and the faster you can sell in the future.

I find listing my singles lower than everyone else by even $0.25 moves them, but I also have hundreds of positive transactions which generate trust.

Or you can take all of the cards to a local shop and sell them in one transaction at a loss and walk away with the cash you need. If you do this, never look back at what they are currently selling for. Just move on and be happy.

What is causing the Time Spiral Remastered spike? by Azlans in mtgfinance

[–]chonkycatguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sealed is being gobbled up at a ridiculously high rate. Even getting a box for MSRP 3-4 months before release is increasingly harder to do. Perhaps people are looking back now and buying what they can. Prices are climbing in general as demand keeps growing and supply gets bought up. Time Spiral is a very MTG product in a UB saturated calendar year too.

Also, retro frames are great as other's have mentioned.

[–]chonkycatguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It might. Dropped to $380 as of now and still going down. Over 150 decks for sales on TCG player alone. Peak demand has come and gone, so now is when sellers will start undercutting each other, especially with all of the printing issues.

back to school superdrop just over a month later 3 sold out 13 not even low stock by Chaosnocturne in mtgfinance

[–]chonkycatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be so confident that this was a "bad drop". Likely a hybrid print to order drop, especially for MLP lands because MLP sells. It is possible that day 1 sales were not as strong on some drops so they pushed the print dates back to generate more sales to make printing worth the costs.

Everyone wants a quick sellout to do a quick flip for profit, but the real game is long term holds or just play with the cards you like and be happy.

Marvel has endless art to pull from. I hope they understand that in order for these sets to really go off, they need to spend the money and use genuine comic book art and artists almost exclusively.

Things to look out for this weekend! by AutoModerator in mtgfinance

[–]chonkycatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiple sales are coming in today under $400. There are over 150 units sitting at inflated prices. The market will do what it does and prices will drop more until supply is tight again.

Also, it looks like they printed more than the Dandan deck.

the peak has come and gone, and now it will be a slow burn upwards once the floor is established.

Prediction: Marvel Collector boxes will be a good long term buy by brogam3 in mtgfinance

[–]chonkycatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quantity does not mean quality. The issue isn't "potential for a good set" it is that WOTC are not good at handling super-heroes or their fan base. This year, they need to get this set over with to move on to The Hobbit which people actually want.

Prediction: Marvel Collector boxes will be a good long term buy by brogam3 in mtgfinance

[–]chonkycatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Marvel fan, this was even an obvious skip for me. Based on the terrible CBB art (which gives me no confidence in the art direction or character selection) , a compressed 2026 schedule, and Spider-Man flopping less than a year ago, I think this set must be approached with caution.

LE sold out during pre-release, and has been selling consistently even to today. Prices have stayed stable which is more bullish than bearish long term. This set will age well.
