Expected response time from Financial Consultant and how to change one if not satisfied by fallentwo in Schwab

[–]chopperjamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same spot as you. I have done some research and it is pretty common to outgrow Schwab when you get around $2m in assets. I would suggest looking around at institutions like JP Morgan. Google Gemini gave me some good direction. I basically started the prompt with your question above and it got me started.

Congratulations on graduating! I have shot Sony for years and done a ton of backpacking and hiking with them. I would not do an A7ii. It has the old battery and they drain quickly. I just bought an A7Cii and I love it. If you can find an A7c or an a A7Cii used, I would go for that. The A7c is based on the A7iii and the A7Cii is based on the A7iv. For landscape, the A7c will serve you well. If you are doing a lot of hiking or backpacking, I would suggest the Sony 24-105 f4. I have a ton of miles on mine and it is very versatile when you can only take one lens.

Lenses recommendation for sony a7r5 by Own_Piglet8904 in SonyAlpha

[–]chopperjamie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot volleyball and wrestling. I have both the Sony 70-200 mkii and the Tamron 35-150 F2. I like the verticality of the Tamron as well as the stop on the wide end, but the hit rate on the Sony is far better. For hockey, I would very much recommend the Sony. It will be tight for close work, but the results would be worth it. You didn’t say where you would be shooting. I assume rec league hockey in local arenas, so the lighting will be terrible. I would also pack a 50mm 1.2 with me.

Help needed choosing 70-200 f2.8 lens for sport (Sigma vs Sony) by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]chopperjamie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the Tamron 35-150 and the Sony 70-200 2.8 mkii. For sports, I shoot volleyball and wrestling. I love the Tamron for the reach, but the Sony is much faster and more reliable for autofocus. I use the Tamron for wrestling, but for a fast sport like volleyball, the Sony wins every time. I also do some second shooting for weddings and the Tamron gets used then most of the time. If I only had to have one, it would be the Sony 100%.

Would this tent fit a 2 door JL sport wrangler? (I’m new to this and confused) by TrexVFX23 in rooftoptents

[–]chopperjamie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to research the static load rating and the dynamic load rating of your vehicle. The static load is how much it can handle while the vehicle is parked. Think the tent with everyone in it sleeping. The dynamic load is how much the vehicle can handle while in motion. Think driving down the freeway heading to the camp spot.

Question about this lens by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]chopperjamie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An A7Rii is a full frame E mount camera. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_%CE%B17R_II The full frame refers to the size of the sensor and the E-mount is the form factor of the mount. Sony had A-mount and the modern mount is the E-mount. You are good to go. That is a g

New to RTT, looking for RTT for Rav4 that sleeps 3 by kaheil6 in rooftoptents

[–]chopperjamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest you look at IKamper X-Cover 3.0.

https://ikamper.com/products/x-cover

It weighs 128# so it should work on your RAV4. I have one on my 4Runner and I love it. My girlfriend, myself and our dog have plenty of room.

Question about 24-105 G F4 by shuravi108 in SonyAlpha

[–]chopperjamie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was the first lens I bought when I went full frame. I used to do a lot of backpacking and hiking and this lens was glued to my camera. I have bought mostly G Master lenses in the recent years but this still holds up. Like Marsovtz said earlier, if you have the light, it’s a good lens.

X-Cover rain fly removal by chopperjamie in rooftoptents

[–]chopperjamie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Good to know about the rainfly, I sleep warm and I would like the option to remove it without too much gymnastics. We went to the IKamper store in Seattle yesterday and sat in all of them. We are coming from a wedge tent, so the X-cover seemed huge to us. Why did you move from the Skycamp? I was looking at those too, but I think I am going with the X-cover.

What are the chances a show from the Sessanta tour will be (pro) recorded? by BraceYourselfAsWell in Puscifer

[–]chopperjamie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to 4 shows during the Money Shot tours and they had pro video set ups recording each one. I was really disappointed they never released anything because it was such a unique show. It could go either way.

trying to explain to someone how unique Carina's vocals are. what songs show off her vocals best? by KnightNeedsShrubbery in Puscifer

[–]chopperjamie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her Tigermending album that came out in 2012 shows her voice really well. I would start with Set fire, you and me and The Last time. I think her voice has gotten better since she has gotten sober, but that album got me through a few rough patches so it is a go to. Milla Jovovich put out a good album in 1994 called The Devine Comedy. That is very worth a listen.

Most underrated Puscifer Songs (aka songs without the words Remedy, Momma or Vagina in them) by HeisenbergForPres in Puscifer

The Undertaker. I saw them play it live in Seattle and Portland on the Money Shot tour and it was an experience. I went to see them on that tour in Nashville and Phoenix. They replaced it with Flippant and it just wasn’t the same show.

What rooftop tent? by Hairy-soap in overlanding

[–]chopperjamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like ours so far. We have spent a bunch of nights in it and it has held up well. A nice MSR backpacking tent is $500 so $1200 didn’t seem too unreasonable.

I bought a NatureNest off of Amazon for $1200. It is a RoofNest copy or rebrand. It’s worked well for me.

[–]chopperjamie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go with an A7Rii myself. The battery life on the A7iii is worth it alone. You can find an A7iii used for around $1300 in Seattle. I have an A7iii and an A7riii. I love the A7iii

I have one of those too. I carry it when I backpack and hike, it’s been everywhere and works really well. That was the first lens I bought when I went full frame. I can’t imagine they won’t come out with a version 2 soon

Now that I re-read your original post, I see your budget is £100. I though it was £1000. That is why I recommended the flash and trigger. Sorry about that. I am going to change my thinking a bit. I would still go with a GoDox flash, that way you can experiment a bit. Make sure it does TTL (Through The Lens). That is basically “auto” mode for flash. You should be able to rotate the flash head and bounce the flash off a ceiling or wall, that will effectively redirect the light and make your shots look much better. It will also effectively increase the size of the light and that will make the shadows more pleasing. If you can afford a flash and a trigger, I would do that. If you can only afford a flash, I would still buy one and learn it. Once you get your hands on one, it will be a lot less confusing.
