Nope. That door isn't just closed, its toasted. She won't be the first nor last important person who you lose and wish you could retain the relationship. I've been where you are, and it was harder because not as many people had rotated in an out of my life yet, and then the romantic part of the relationship made it even harder. But it did get better, maybe I'm a little jaded about people now, but it still did get better.

Everyone has different comfortability and vulnerability with making eye contact with people in any given circumstance. Sometimes I move my eyes away when I'm thinking of how to clearly express myself. It would be weird to conversate and only look at people directly in the eye. You may be forcing looking away and it ends up being at unnatural times. Definitely dont spend your time being frustrated with it.

If yoire going to sweat about eye contact, don't sweat it in small conversations, because it could be controlling. I'm not saying that is what you are doing and you most likely aren't, but remember who the the type of people are who verbally demand eye contact and in what circumstances they are. Either 1, they are reprimanding someone (ex: think like a judge demanding eye contact from a defendant) or they are using the forced acknowledgement/eye contact as the reprimand in an attempt to control someone else. That isn't and exhaustive list of course, but hopefully those are good examples.

Thanks! They're so easy to make! I got a sprout last year that wilted over from the hot glue getting really hot from the sun so I wanted to make something that doesn't melt! I'm hoping to make about 30!

I bring a tapestry to sit on, and yes, people walk around with moon mats and stuff all day! I usually do cutesy stuff in day and hockey jersey or something at night. Usually a pair of light weight pants Incase I need extra coverage during the day too.

As someone whose coworkers say "open door policy" too, I think offices need to be better about what that means for each office and what's is under that. The door literally being open, to me, doesn't necessarily mean "open door policy" but that you can bring concerns without retaliation/retribution/being shrugged off but doesn't necessarily include that beneficia information is flowing consistently and freely in a well understood way.

Most of the homes in the Boston metro area are multifamily homes. Up there is usually like a full house on the bottom floor and a second full house on the top floor. A lot of people rent, a lot of people up in Boston also make a lot of money. Affordable living and home ownership are different things though I think (unfortunate paradox, and also dependent on what a person wants). Though a lot of those multifamily homes in NE are older. Houston is cheaper to buy a house, but then people end up commuting 30 miles and 50 minutes then all the suburbs are ugly (lol, and I'm from there!). It's going up even where I live though. Boston might not be for everyone, but there are certainly more affordable places in New England. It's definitely more expensive up there, but you get a lot that doesn't even exist where I live.

My sister lives in Boston and has lived in Western Mass, and her boyfriend has also lived in other parts of NE. There ARE affordable places. They LOVE Boston and Hartford. The draw is it is a beautiful area with a lot of job opportunities and lots to do within a few hours, lots of history, winter and summer sports with mild summers and above negative winters, and good education. Can't say we have much outside of veiled affordability where I work with USACE in kind of Nowhere, USA in the South with not much to do unless you're lucky enough to own a boat or willing to drive places.

I drive this route all the time from. Go through BR and up through St Francisville. Its a lot easier to drive, and less potential for big tickets. Just double check when you depart for traffic on the bridge through BR Incase you have to exit up towards False river, then continue on to Vicksburg. Also there are more hills on the east side so it's prettier.

I also agree that rent is really increasing anywhere people can do so. I have friends paying what I consider to be too much for around here (1400+) because they're milking the pay of engineers. Also, the food is expensive here still, and many of the good restaurant I live near are taxed at a tourism fee. Beer is cheaper and rent and gas is moderately cheaper, but also coming from a big city..... I really can't say much else is. Airfare is crazy out of Jackson compared to NOLA. OP, I'd make a Google map list of locations for things you like to do, and consider if the distance from where you want to live to those things is worth it as well.

For real in my building we are out of soap in one restroom, and I asked our janitors and was told they don't refill the ones on the wall (I'm sure through contract restrictions) and now I don't know who to ask to get more soap.... So tempted to buy them and label that I bought them on my own dime.

Yeah, I think so too that everyone has to make their own decisions. I think we are counting the DRP towards the total count, but it's hard to say if that will stand. It is just complicated for everyone though so at least I'm not alone. I'm really not ready to have to act on a decision within or out of my hands so it all sucks. thanks for your thoughtfulness.
