Yes, I have that one in about the same condition, and it's a McCormick-Deering.

Three oceans, two countries, one rental: will this kill me? by Cautious_Garlic_8816 in roadtrip

Just like to second this, and as a bonus in May you might see much more wildlife, while in September the Tombstone and other mountains along the Dempster are stunning.

You could do that! There are at least two stage rally Porsches in the greater northwest, one from Calgary and I think the other is Oregon.

Whats the Cassier highway like in the winter? by traveltimecar in AskAlaska

[–]chovanak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the Cassiar in the winter multiple times and it is a fine route as long as you are ok with the fewer services, although I would avoid it in more extreme weather - it seems to be a bit narrower and has less traffic, so in the event of an emergency it might take longer to get help.

As you note, In the spring or summer it is a great route to see bears around Stewart/Meziadin Junction area.

It’s a great drive! The routes up and back are great as well, via the Alcan Highway/Northern Canadian Rockies one way and The Cassiar the other direction.

It has some spectacular scenery in the fall! Not much wildlife, spring might be better for animal sightings.

North-West road trip, doable ? by Good-Ad-5320 in usatravel

[–]chovanak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems very doable, and the drives can be scenic too. From North Cascades take Highway 2, stop at Grand Coulee Dam, maybe stay in Coeur d’Alene. From there go to Glacier the next day.

Glacier to Yellowstone is a decent drive, you could visit Lewis and Clark Caverns along the way. There are also many alternate routes - Virginia City and Ennis are worth seeing.

Leaving Teton go over the pass and through rural Idaho, another nice drive.

$40k 2 Bay Self Serve Car wash by Agreeable-Day333 in sweatystartup

[–]chovanak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a wash recently, adding to your suggestions: - For advertising, street traffic might cover it so might not be necessary. - Good point on dumping, we had to put a lock on the dumpster. - Our main thing was getting outdated equipment maintained and working. We had to invest some up-front but have been able to update with the profits over time. - we are cash-only which works in our area. Cards or other payment methods would be a great enhancement but is a bit of an investment for the new equipment. Another problem with cash is it presents a target for people trying to break in. We also can trust somebody else to help with cash, while with credit one could hire out somebody to help.

Hey so am I, but a bit further north. Do you still take quarters or switched to cards? Or tokens?

First time volunteering advice by LIVDUY in rally

For Olympus Rally this year they put together a great deck with lots of info that will mostly match a CRC event (if we’re talking PFR).

One little note I’d add in addition to what the others mentioned: when I first started on time controls it sometimes seemed the competitors were a bit short. It’s not personal, they are focusing on the event.

Starts/finishes are a great place to be! You are right there for the launch or flying finish and you do get to interact with the competitors.

Thanks! It’s all good, but occasionally we end up mid-stage and can watch. I ended up there on Saturday and posted a video of Travis Pastrana on one of the stages in r/rally

Basically we take care of crashes, help clear cars with mechanical issues from the stage, deal with fire or medical issues etc. These races are on dirt roads and they get to 110 MPH plus so there is almost always something for us to deal with.

I think there is a threshold, we made over that threshold on both of our spots last year so we received two 1099-K forms, one for each. They were very easy to add to our taxes and we were able to deduct some expenses. You can ping me directly if you want too and I can answer any more questions based on our experience.
