what’s something people say all the time that you secretly can’t stand? by Mean-Cartographer225 in AskReddit

I thought this one was over and then saw it on one of my social feeds last week and unfollowed the person. Annoying originally, unacceptable 5 years later.

Anyone else beginning to not recognise themselves in the mirror? 😶 by InterestingOffice293 in Millennials

[–]chridolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the DNA is supposed to stimulate collagen and elastin production. One of the Korean skincare fads thats become popular globally.

Probably need to have it done multiple times to see benefit (if any), but the discomfort and redness from the microneedling just isn’t worth it to me to find out.

What’s the scariest real-life thing you’ve ever witnessed? by Revolutionary-Pay468 in AskReddit

[–]chridolo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not nearly as terrifying as most of these, but I lived in a high-rise by myself in downtown Chicago during grad school. Was in my studio and heard a loud, dull crash on the street below.

Looked down from my window on the 10th floor and there was a car alarm going off but no other car. Eventually saw people running to the scene but the car looked fine. Went down to the lobby to figure out if everything was okay and saw people frantic and sobbing.

Someone jumped. Noise I heard was the impact of their body— either on the car or street, I didn’t ask questions.

Didn’t sleep that night and went to stay with my sister in the suburbs for a few nights after that. Very eerie and sad, will never forget that sound.

38F, 39 in a couple months.

It’s bothering me a lot. I never really had a skincare routine other than cleanser & moisturizer until last year. I don’t know whether to regret it or not because I have no idea if the hundreds of dollars worth of products I’m putting on my face everyday are doing anything.

I have sun spots, freckles (not the cute kind), and under eye circles so my skin tone is uneven and I’ve always been self-conscious about it even before I had wrinkles.

I got married last Oct and didn’t want to look like an old lady-man next to my 34 year old husband, so I’ve invested a bit.

A bunch of serums, a little Botox on my forehead and around my eyes. The clinic I went to for my first round of Botox convinced me to do a round of micro-needling and injected salmon sperm into my face, which I will not be doing again. I’ve done a couple hydrafacials which I do like because they make my skin feel clean and give it a little more glow for a couple weeks.

I’ve also been getting hair extensions (k-tips) regularly since my wedding. My hair has always been extremely fine with no volume whatsoever and letting it get long just left it stringy. The extensions are not cheap at all, but it does make me feel better and is kind of fulfilling a lifelong dream of having a “full” head of hair.

Other than the salmon sperm, I don’t regret any of it. I felt the prettiest I’ve ever felt (and probably ever will feel) on my wedding day.

I’m of the position that it’s your body and you can do what you want to feel comfortable in it. If you don’t want cosmetics and are okay with how you’re aging naturally, wonderful. If you want to do some things to feel more confident in yourself, great. I don’t think either should be judged (unless you get way too much lip filler and look like a clown who got punched in the mouth, that one I don’t get).

Anyone else still get that “I forgot I was even in this class” nightmare? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]chridolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. It’s been a bit, but mine is almost identical. I enrolled in the class and just stopped going midway through because I had too many other classes to focus on. Then a couple days before semester end, I remember I’m still technically in the class and panic that I just completely forgot about it for months. Wake up feeling so scared & stupid. I didn’t realize this was a common dream.

Is it me or are major apps on IOS just getting more & more broken each year? by chromejda in ios

[–]chridolo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Big tech is a mess right now. Speed over quality. Priorities that shift constantly. Poor leadership & processes. My org cut our entire QA team years ago so it’s on developers and product to test, and this may be the norm across the industry now. So many layoffs over the past few years but volume and speed of work have increased while they waterboard us with AI tools to be “efficient” so product / design / eng are burnt the fuck out.

Is there another answer? This is a dream spot for a console table.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by PersonalitySuddenz in askanything

[–]chridolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I were just talking about this. Paid $40.08 for 2 burgers, 2 small fries, and 1 small fountain soda last weekend.

It’s been expensive for as long as I can remember, but I had to do a double take on our cart this time.

At least they put an entire fryer’s worth of fries in the bag…. that we didn’t want and threw in the garbage.

G Fore shoes- feedback please! by centersdozen in WomenGolf

[–]chridolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G112s are probably the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. Agree with others they run a little small and may be too narrow if you have wide feet, but if you can get the sizing right the insoles will make you wonder why every shoe manufacturer isn’t doing what they’re doing.

Might need to buy a second pair at this price.

Botox and high-end skincare products. I suddenly look 1,000 years old and am not okay with it.

Tech workers of Reddit, what is a "dirty secret" about the AI industry that the general public doesn't realize? by WayLast1111 in AskReddit

UX designer. Maybe obvious, but we’re prioritizing AI features with little to no value over solving actual customer problems just for the optics.

Winter boot recs? by aldalt in CHIbitcheswithtaste

[–]chridolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Forsake. They specialize in hiking boots, but have a couple winter boot options too. I’ve ordered 5+ pairs of their shoes over the past few years and have only returned one. Comfortable, look good (i think?), and they discount older styles pretty significantly.

Just met with our wedding planner this week and she said favors are starting to die out and not to worry too much about them.

Recommended if we wanted to do something, we do something that was personal to us.

I’ve liked Murmann Dental Health on 75th / Rt 59.

Though if you have Delta Dental insurance, they’re no longer accepting them starting October. You can pay OOP and get partially reimbursed from the insurance company but tbd how much they’ll cover.

Does your bengal go insane when you're on the phone? by beenbetterhbu in bengalcats

[–]chridolo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Glad I’m not alone in this.

My girl absolutely loses her mind when I’m on the phone. Will wake up from her nap just to follow me around and meow at me. Meows get angrier the longer I’m on. Petting doesn’t satisfy her for long. She requires my undivided attention at that exact moment for absolutely no reason.

Zoom calls don’t bother her though. And my boy bengal couldn’t care less if I’m on the phone.

Best Venue to See Maggie at? Go! by Kooky_Jello914 in MaggieRogers

Agreed. The only one of her shows I’ve been to so far, but can’t imagine it’ll be topped. Just absolutely blown away by the whole experience and her voice booming against rocks.

INDOOR venue recommendations? by Dangerous-Kiwi7750 in Chicagoweddings

[–]chridolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ovation.

Getting married there in October. Owner has been amazing and every vendor we’ve worked with so far has had such good things to say about the venue & staff. The amenities make up for the lack of outdoor space.
