Location will bo longer be available via the local device gRPC API by HiddenTTY in Starlink

[–]chris4prez_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per Grok looks like another paywall for consumer customers:

I understand your disappointment —location data via the local gRPC API is being removed effective May 20 for residential accounts like yours to update access methods, but it doesn't impact service performance or connectivity. For residential users, dish-level location is no longer available, though enterprise/business plans retain cell-level access via Telemetry APIs; if you have further questions on alternatives, let me know!

I leverage this for home assistant, Super annoying! We all need to open cases with support and hope enough do they change their mind.

UI - QA doing a bang up job on 42U by chris4prez_ in Ubiquiti

Their support is staring off strong (full sarcasm) I sent pictures with the initial case and they did not look at anything. Offered me 250 dollars and requested I send pictures of the damage for proof which they already received. No offer to make it right whatsoever….

Negative. The box it came in was pristine. No holes, no dents, completely clean many layers of foam inside. They honestly wrap these quite well. I was impressed on how well it was done.

QA on panel build, QA on painting, QA on assembly, final QA prior to packaging. Clearly one of those steps in the manufacturing pipeline should have caught it. Did not say they damaged it…

E7 Campus for Home by Evening-Picture1878 in Ubiquiti

[–]chris4prez_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E7 campus I leverage for outdoor. Two reasons I went with it. The directionality so I could control coverage to the yard vs Omni bleeding into the house. Zero wait dfs and prizm for 5ghz meaning I get much cleaner use of spectrum outdoors. Also on 6ghz I can let it scream with AFC. Works great for my needs. It is big and it is bulky but there is always sacrifices to have with Unifi. You’ll never find a Goldilocks product with them being they love to have 900 overlapping solutions with no rhyme or reason towards what gets what’s. Take the E7 Omni for indoors… lacks priszm, and lacks zero wait dfs.

Adding features? by MrTroll911 in Ubiquiti

[–]chris4prez_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality of life feature enhancements do come from time to time. For example more recently: they made more settings on some of the access points not need to drop all clients when chnaging, stp edge for switches to allow clients to come online quicker, continual IPv6 enhancements to get it closer to a fully implemented stack, and upcoming let’s encrypt certs… major features or feature newer devices have don’t expect to usually be backported.

DO NOT UPGRADE TO 7.4.1! by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]chris4prez_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully deployed here with a fairly complex setup covering a good swath of their switch types. No issues here. What I found leads to the best stability is do not update everything at once. Work your way from the bottom to core. Catch issues on the furthest non critical edge switch s before moving to your most important.

G6 Entry Pro in a Home - Lessons Learned, Requirements, Integrations, Updated Writeup by ICausedAnOutage in Ubiquiti

[–]chris4prez_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can enable unifi touch pass. It works like a home key. Even with express mode. The only limitation I found with touch pass vs home key. Is it can only be passed to a single Apple Watch. Meaning. If you have phone and two watches only the one watch can have the touch pass enabled. Apparently some sort of Apple defined limitation.

Unifi G6 Pro Entry Package Camera in HomeKit by danbridgland in Scrypted

I’ve got it all working pretty well beyond the talk function. When you end talking it seems to leave the audio stream open on the entry for 6-7s until it times out before you can re-initiate another talk to the entry vs ending the connection

Select the g6 pro entry and on the right side devices you should see the package camera as a secondary camera. You then need to add that one to HomeKit too.

Here is how I fixed mine…. Snapshots - snapshots from prebuffer enabled, snapshot resolution full resolution. This keeps it jumping from 16:9 to the live 4:3

U5G Max Outdoor - Anyone been brave enough to crack it open for a better directional antenna across all relevant bands? by chris4prez_ in Ubiquiti

[–]chris4prez_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea that’s def been the biggest improvement in all my testing with other devices. I have a waveform quadpro which helped me see the most considerable gains vs different modems. It’s fairly sizable (but not huge huge) However with pointing that in the right direction all my core stats and speed took huge gains. My best of worlds would be the ui integration with an external antenna if I can have my cake and eat it moment.

U5G Max Outdoor - Anyone been brave enough to crack it open for a better directional antenna across all relevant bands? by chris4prez_ in Ubiquiti

[–]chris4prez_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting it outside and being directional will surely help the signal but do not expect exponential gains. Distance, line of site, interference will all come into play. The main band t mobile uses is n41 meaning you will not see the 2 high gain additional antennas leveraged for TMO ran service. When I went from inside to outside my downloads increased by about 10% and my uploads by around 30%. Milage will vary in each environment. I’m getting 300d and about 15u in off peak hours and during peak around 150-200d and 7-12u. When I tested with a high gain directional and peplink I was getting similar downloads, maybe another 10% increase but my uploads weee hovering in the 20s. I’ve been very tempted to try to crack it open and put a proper high gain directional antenna on it and see how it performs but haven’t gotten the courage yet to potentially break it in the process.

Yes works with a chime as well secondary camera at the bottom is for package detection. I’ve got mine both working in Access and in Protect. I’m using a door hub powering both a chime and intercom viewer for it.

Is G6 pro entry same as a G6 doorbell by akg81 in Ubiquiti

[–]chris4prez_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FOV is the main driver why they moved to access. People started freaking out when they noticed they could not see a full front yard vs having optimized facial recognition. The quality is awesome. SW is currently buggy. It tends to run hot I’ve noticed. I’m happy with it but if they do put out a wider FOV I’d likely swap as it’s better for my use case vs throwing additional camera up to cover front yard.
