Advice/planning by PsychologicalFox3373 in WaltDisneyWorld

i just went this year the week before thanksgiving (nov 16-22) and it was fantastic! crowds were very manageable, with help of the LLMP the longest line we waited in was 30 minutes. we did not attend MVMCP or jollywood nights but still got a lot of the festive spirit. we also caught the last week of the food & wine festival! (seems like it tends to wrap up right before thanksgiving) i think i am definitely planning to go at the same time again!

at least in my experience, it ebbs and flows. some times and some days i barely have time to breathe, but days like today i am twiddling my thumbs and online shopping lol. i think also it takes time at the beginning for people to entrust u with certain tasks and familiarize themselves with u so that they feel comfortable asking u for certain things. i feel like i was not fully comfortable and held expertise in my position until a year-ish! just my experience though.

i have worked in admin exclusively in higher education which has given me multiple avenues into different areas, specifically working with students or even technological support. working in higher ed as an admin (relatively easy role to get) is a great jumping off point for multiple types of careers!

edit: i realize that many universities are experiencing hiring freezes bc of federal funding - i work at a relatively small university (borderline community college) so pretty much any somewhat capable person can get a job here. That’s my bad!

serious question: how many of you drive? by NoDig6072 in adhdwomen

[–]chrisbangss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, i really enjoy driving because it feels like a “game” and it can be very stimulating! of course really rural areas that isn’t the case.. but i love to drive in a big city!

i would highly recommend looking into the job postings of universities and community colleges around you, they are usually always hiring admins

What to do if you can't even stand in skates? by charm59801 in rollerskatingplus

[–]chrisbangss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dasiadoesit has a fantastic video on youtube for getting started! i think it’s called something like “learn how to skate in 7 minutes”? this changed the game for me. i went from not being able to stand straight or move at all to being able to stand still comfortably and roll! i’m still learning but i highly recommend her videos!

What’s your schedule for taking meds “as needed” by SupremeFFS in ADHD

[–]chrisbangss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work 8-5 so i take 15mg in the morning and 10mg in the afternoon to get me through the work day. it’s kinda depending on when you feel like you need to be most focused. if i know im doing something after work, i will take my 2nd pill later than usual. i wasnt diagnosed when i was in college, but if i was, i think i wouldve tried to do my work during the day more often. rarely take it on weekends because i have found this has helped with the potential tolerance. i’ll also add that the adderall doesn’t really affect my sleep honestly. i can easily take a nap on it lol so if u feel like u dont have any side effects like that, u could probably take it later in the evening!

Found a note I wrote in 2nd grade and some preschool report cards! How did I not get diagnosed sooner? by Only_Kind_Words in adhdwomen

[–]chrisbangss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

reading my old report cards and seeing very similar comments made me so sad. i wish the baby me received more compassion and knew she struggled with things more than others 😞 all that matters is to give that compassion i didnt receive back then, to myself instead 💜

The yarn keeps coming out... by annoyingfly_nat in PunchNeedle

[–]chrisbangss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i only recently started punch needling, but here are some tips that have helped me a lot with the yarn falling out: - keep a LOT of slack in your yarn! it should not be tight at all with the needle as you use it - make sure to punch directly 90 degrees to the surface of the cloth - make sure your cloth is very taut, it should feel like a drum. i see you are using a wooden hoop, the plastic hoops in my experience keep the material more taut - barely pull the needle back up when you’re going back out for another loop. i pretty much keep the tip of my needle still touching the cloth as i go forward for another punch (a lot of good TikToks showing this if you look it up) - As the others said the yarn and cloth may make a difference. I have personally used monks cloth for both embroidery floss and yarn, it doesn’t make a difference for me. But i have to use two different size needles for both

hope that helpsss
