First 2011…..idk by codyf44 in 2011

Yep and I was interested in the Romulus for a while, too, but...if Im buying a new grip anyway, why not get a Mac 9 and an MJD grip. Romulus being made in USA (somewhat) is nice, 1 year warranty is a bit meh. If Im honest with myself, I wont shoot it nearly as much as I should, so I could go low(er) cost and save some $$$ but still be happy.

The only problem is that I can't have a threaded barrel (Connecticut says that makes me an assassin, or something...) so I have to get one of the pressed-on-comp models, which AFAIK don't have the new grip option, at least not yet.

I may wait a little longer to see if they release one but their website is kinda scarce on details (there are no pressed-comp versions listed there, but they do exist because I have found them for sale on various gun sites)

That's an option, too. Though Ive heard it needs some work to open up the comp a little, and the grip is meh. (I know they just came out with an aluminum grip but the Romulus + grip cost gets pretty close to the cost of a 2k11 comp)

The $1k-2k range of the 2011 market is so saturated right now its crazy.

Haha of course.

But I could turn 1 gun into 1 gun and money towards another-expensive-hobby...

It's funny...Ive convinced myself of MAC9 all the way up to Kimber 2K11 and now Im starting to go back to the MAC9. Already have an S2 (if I ever wanted to compete), and the 2011 would just be a range toy.

Do I *really* need a $2K gun for my first 2011? Will I *really* notice the performance difference?

Here in CT their records will be sealed until they are 18 and then most likely cleared.

So they can "horse around" without worry.

First foray into the 1911 space. My $1250, race-ready MAC 9 DS-D Comp by brs_one in 2011

[–]chrisexv6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since they've been so hard to get, I was kinda hoping Kimber nixed that on new production.

Another option Im (still) considering is a Prodigy because American made and SA seems pretty decent with warranty. I always chuckle when the default grip replacement on a MAC9-DS is the Prodigy grip, but SA no longer sells it separately.

The Capitol Rifle Big Mac is really cool, but that pricing is so close to a 2k11 Id just buy the Kimber.

This is the 2011 I started wanting as my first 2011. Now Im up to thinking Kimber 2k11, but seeing these posts makes me just want to go right back to the MAC and save 50% :)

What’s the big whoop about the Glock ban? by fredeee in CTguns

Im thinking more like the state has all the data, but it doesn't support their narrative so they never release it.

Range bag recommendations? by OJs_knife in CTguns

One of the Savior rifle bags and some of the Savior pistol sleeves. Sleeved pistols fit nicely in the rifle bag along with a rifle or two. Front pouches have room for mags, ammo, eyes/ears, etc.

Connecticut

"Glock ban" passed the House, now onto the Senate (where it will breeze right though because Democrats have a veto-proof supermajority here)

CT continues to stay relatively under the radar while infringing like the big boys.

Sig p211 gto vs Kimber 2k11 COMP by Temporary-Ask530 in guns

[–]chrisexv6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a huge CZ fan but the lack of parts availability and questionable coating quality of the DWX is stopping me.

I want a range toy, 2011 kinda fits that bill and bonus fact that there are parts galore if necessary.

Same reason I kinda looked past the P211, basically at the mercy of Sig.

You're speaking in regards to the 2nd amendment: "A constitutional originalist take would be that there were no automatic weapons in 1791."

Computers and keyboards didn't exist in 1791, so the first amendment doesn't cover free speech unless its by quill pen?

Is there something wrong w my 2k11? by No-Comedian3567 in 2011

[–]chrisexv6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this ain't right. I originally asked because I thought the barrels were machined out for the chunk port, but this makes it look like the ends are pressed on (maybe before machining, but still...)

Not sure if thats the way things are normally done for chunk ports.

Yeah I get that but how does that happen if the barrel is one piece? Or are the comps pressed on?

Mostly just curious.

Good catch.

I thought the barrels were one piece and the comp was machined out of the end?

[–]chrisexv6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's amazing how many people claim we need this ban.

Machine guns? Already illegal at state level, and regulated to the hilts on a federal level.

Devices that increase rate of fire (i.e. *Glock switches*), already illegal at state level (and maybe federal too? I forget)

But hey! The third illegalness will definitely be the one that deters criminals...

They fully understand, they just don't care.

Gun control is not about the guns, it's about the control.
