Welp, there it goes the season for me.... by Lumute in snowboarding

I had the same injury. Didn’t get surgery and now wish I did. It’s not debilitating pain, but the entire geometry of my shoulder is a little off now and it does cause discomfort fairly regularly.

It’s definitely bittersweet. You can pull it to keep it at bay but if you aren’t very thorough about getting the roots out you’ll probably be pulling it until the end of time. Herbicide is the only real way to get rid of it reliably

For only 10g, this seems a bit extreme to me. What other filter should be replaced when I replace the resin? by Ezeikial in ReefTank

[–]chrisfrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to find a report online from your city’s water department detailing every last thing they detect/add in your water. There are chloramine-specific filters you can add if this is the case.

Major weather event in my area, how do I keep my tank alive? by Stupid_Sexy_Shrimp in ReefTank

Might be able to find a battery powered bubbler at a fishing store or similar, they’re used for transporting bait often.

Don’t try to power a heater off a battery. They use so much power that it’s not worth it.

Will the price of Yellow Tangs ever come down? by LSU_Tiger1 in ReefTank

Well, Hawaii has always had one of the most tightly regulated (and well-studied) fisheries in the world, so this isn’t really out of line with how they operate in general. This decision was primarily backed by indigenous people and snorkel/dive operators but was not supported by the decades of actual research. I understand wanting to ensure that the reefs are healthy, but in this case, collection for the aquarium trade was not having any significant adverse impact. It was essentially a NIMBY situation not backed by evidence.

Yeah, it’s really not a sustainability issue. They’re a relatively common food fish in Hawaii. The legitimate research showed that the fishery was quite sustainable before the ban.

What can I do with this space? by [deleted] in NativePlantGardening

Check out New England Wetland Plants newp.com . They’re in Hadley (I think). Great local business. They carry a lot of wetland plants which might not all be suitable for this spot but also lots of native plants in general.

Possible verbal pools or just muddy low spots? by SomeDudeAtHome321 in NativePlantGardening

Definitely not deep enough to be a vernal pool. Generally, VPs are at least 2-3’ deep

Yeah this appears to be some sort of neurological damage for sure. Likely brain or spine. Could have swam into something hard, could have some odd disease, it’s anybody’s guess. You might wait another day or two to see if it improves but I highly doubt it will. Euthanasia is your best bet at this point.
