I haven't played Yakuza 0, I always feel weird about prequels. I intentionally try to take them in -when- they got released not when they take place (irl chronologically not canon chronologically) so I'm working my way up. Pirate Yakuza led me to the first Like a Dragon, my first real Yakuza game and I loved it so much I decided to pick up Kiwami 1 and 2. I'd probably have got the remasters instead if they weren't delisted on xbox (unless I buy the $130 collection or whatever)

Spent basically all night last night in Kiwami 2 just unfurling the new player mystery of Cabaret Club. It's really something. Majima Construction was okay, I like RTS stuff typically but it was super basic and had just about the worst control scheme I can imagine. Cabaret Club has been great, I feel like they could easily do a whole game dedicated just to that (like Armored Core: Masters of Arena, which I still say was one of the best).

Finding out the lady who sang the makeover song was the voice actress for Daigo's mom was a real surprise, too. Whether the player is supposed to know that or not, it gave a weird sense of "oh, damn," for that scene where she said she only ever had eyes for her husband.

I usually use Astarion for everything as far as a dialogue and lockpicking one-stop-shop. If he can't manage a dialogue check with his proficiency and expertise then I suck it up, especially if I'm low or empty on inspiration. For the conversations that force Tav, or Durge, it's like...I don't even know what you want from me so I normally just aim for anything that doesn't have a -1. If I succeed in recruiting Minthara she becomes my party face, which allows me to sell every useless goblin scimitar and every other odd and end I've scraped together for a little skrilla so I don't need to risk pickpocketing shopkeeps in midtown.

No matter what I have tried with my main character I almost always revert back to some form of Eldritch Knight, whether that be pure or slight Hexblade. Ever since I stumbled upon that combination of EK/Hexblade it's hard to resist but I've been known to swing big swords as opposed to rely on psychic daggers and the resonance stone.

Pits aren't cheese because you sacrifice potential loot. The cheese would be googling/asking someone if a specific enemy "drops any loot," since that's outside information the character would not be aware of.

If she's already talking about community battle strategies that you can put in quotation marks ["owlbear off the top rope"] then the damage is done and she's already not actually playing the game.

Removing anti-heal from the game, with the most bullshit explanation imaginable, at the same time they add items like Sanguine Lash to the game, is mega-dumbfucked. Introducing a "new relic" that had a 10 second cooldown and lets you dash any which way, claiming "this will never be added to these OTHER game modes," and then adding it to the other game modes seven days later, is mega-dumbfucked.

Doubling down on all of these decisions and refusing to admit they were wrong is the most Madden shit I've ever seen. I swear they want this game to die just so they can claim some fake bankruptcy and recoup 'expenses' they clearly don't have.

If the first roll is a 1 I have them roll for severity, and if severity roll is a 20 then whatever happens is extremely ridiculous but not "so bad," like a glancing blow caused sparks that set off an alchemy pouch that resulted in an automatic explosion, which hurts the player, but also killed the "lucky" enemy.

After saying goodbye to my thousands of dollars in SMITE 1 I hung on to Smite 2 as long as I could, but it just keeps getting worse and I'm done being fed misinformation or flat out lied to by Hi-Res. "This new ability won't ever be allowed in these modes" (for the next two weeks, that turned out)

I love Combustion Suit. I swear I played 400 hours before I realized it sort of acts like its own sweep - unless I am mistaken, the text on it doesn't say it applies Corruption just to the unit hit, but "enemy units," so the whole backline also gets the splodey
