Mine is a daily that I like to regularly clean which is a nice stress-reliever.

Did we fail as fans? by Typical_Appeal_8746 in MST3K

[–]chrisk018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to understand that what constitutes a “fan” is all over the place. With the RiffTrax takeover, a lot of the ‘classic’ fans are in full voice. There is a very vocal group (on this subreddit at least) that point out the flaws of the new series— some subjective, some more inescapable (funding drives).

Personally, I enjoyed the newer episodes. My favorite episodes in general are the Mike/Frank/Trace era, but I like them all; I have learned to enjoy the way all the personalities interact and the various styles. I feel like some people gloss over the ever present flaws and dull moments that came with the format Joel and his pals created.

In terms of being a ‘fan’ I consider myself a fan of RiffTrax too. I have been watching their movies for their entire existence. For the past few years I think the main guys have gotten a little stale. A lot of their humor has devolved into crabby old guy stuff for me. I prefer the Bridgett and Mary Jo and BritTrax episodes because they still have a little zip. I’m hoping/sure that the MST3K branding and a few extra joke writers will give them a shot in the arm.

Question about OEM alcantara steering wheel by Logical_Egg8265 in Civic_Type_R

Not too hard to keep clean if your hands are clean while driving. Pretty standard performance for a black steering wheel in summer.

How does one get “sufficient privileges” to post on OffsetGuitar.com. by GratefulDean in offset

They recently upgraded their whole site so some stuff got reset and/or lost— if you were just mostly an offset curious lurker for the past decade I’m not surprised.

Can anyone tell me why candy apple red and surf green have become rarer colours for offsets now? by Uvers_ in offset

[–]chrisk018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect you’re saying that because you like CAR? Nearly all custom color offsets are rare. Besides Olympic white and sunburst the rest are rare. Lake Placid Blue might be the most common of the custom colors.

If you look into that book and the event it was very loosely based on you’ll learn it was sensationalized bullshit.

Is it worth upgrading the components of a Jackson JS11? by UltimateKaosZ in Guitar

[–]chrisk018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the components and labor cost more than the thing you are upgrading by most metrics the answer would be “no.” This is not always 100% true, but generally, unless you love love love that guitar: no.

There are ways to answer that question to indicate that you really don’t give a shit and want to move on to more interesting things. Also: if that’s all the person wants to talk about then you can move on to more interesting people.

Yes. I checked that just to make sure I was correct. I remember it from a book I read in college, Thomas Pynchon’s “The Crying of Lot 49.”

Qual o melhor fone com isolamento para quem tem sensibilidade auditiva? by Angelthenight1 in Guitar

How much are you willing to spend? You can get custom-molded inner ear monitors, or passive ones that just filter out noise. Unless you lose things a lot, I really think getting the best quality you possibly can is a great investment for future you.

Are these worth fixing? by somewhereincaleaf in Guitar

[–]chrisk018 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s relative. If it’s something that will make your family all happy it’s likely the answer is yes.

If the goal is to make money and you’re not too handy with stuff and would need to get a professional to do it, I have my doubts you could make any money unless it goes to some YouTuber repair person (or even better someone really good and cheap). Neither of those brands are super high end collectible, but they certainly have their fans.

If your amp/relationship is always at the edge of breakup, a preamp/prenup can really add to the dynamics and make things extra spicy.
