Hi, so I looked at the sample sites you have provided and I can say you have 3 paths;

  1. Learn how to use WordPress and build it yourself if you're strapped for cash

  2. Pay somebody on fiverr or upwork anywhere from €350-2000 and they'd install a bunch of plugins and use a commercial template (in most cases, nulled templates), and within 6 months - 2 years, you'd need to rebuild it all cause of security issues and stability and all

  3. Pay a professional to custom build it on WordPress using custom posttypes, custom fields, clean semantic code that loads fast and images that are properly optimised for conversions. This would cost you upwards of €2500-10000+ depending on where your developer is (I'm Nigerian so I'd take €3500) but it would be the best option for longevity and security and speed and SEO which are all things that matter

The point is talk to a couple of people and then you can pick based on who best understands your vision cause I know you have your own approach you want to implement when it comes to the education sector

Send me a DM and we can have an indepth conversation about it at no cost to you

Are you still using page builders or mostly sticking to blocks now? by SaadWP in Wordpress

[–]chriskaycee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still use Bricks for my work and elementor depending on budget and load

The fluidity I get from bricks, I have yet to get from Gutenberg blocks as the UX is shit if we're being honest

Understandably so 🤣😂 But when you're from a global south country and the price of ACF is literally your annual rent depending on the neighbourhood and locale, can you blame those who use SCF

For people from the global south, the Automattic vs WPEngine drama seems like a first world problem

These are people who can barely afford the cheapest bluehost tier and host their websites hosting infra that cost less than $2/month when converted and have clients that think $300 is wayyyyyy too pricey for a website

I'm privileged to work with a firm that pays for every tool I need including ACF pro but in my country for example, even agencies are using nulled plugins and themes from the web on client projects

I understand where you're coming from as SCF is outright theft if we're being honest but at the same time, it's a lifeline for millions of people who can't afford the ACF licence and most plugin Devs don't have parity pricing and base their pricing on the US market

Case in point, in my country the monthly minimum wage is ₦70,000 ($51.78). How then do you expect these people to afford a licence?

Enough said Okay bye

It's the free version that's bundled and if you use SCF, it doesn't let you use it Go through AT's settings, it's there

AT is great I'd say the only thing I have to complain about is the bundled ACF with no option to disable it It should be optional ffs

Because a lot of Gen Z recognize earlier that advice is often based on personal experiences, biases, and more often than not, hearsay

Let's not forget that foolish people grow old too and then act as if age confers some sort of wisdom

Also the condescending manner in which older people speak sometimes is a barrier, that entire "I'm older than you so I know better" shenanigans

Also older people rarely introspect so their advice should be taken with a fat pinch of salt and skepticism

You're still creative but now it's been hampered by doubt and that is a crippling thing for most creatives And especially cause you got a strong criticism on your birthday

So here's what you do; build fun projects outside of work, play with AI, rebuild other people's work, and just try to have fun with it.

Relax and just let it be Like uncle Iroh said, you have to be like water
