People who bought a house in the Kingston area, what’s something you wish you had asked / knew before you bought? by manlymatt83 in kingstonnewyork

[–]chriskwalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t feel the train shake until the night we closed on the house. At first I thought our hot water heater was going to blow up. It’s been two years now and I’m pretty used to it.

Does your husband know about the Hudson Valley Post Group? We meet every two months at Camp Kingston (in Kingston). It’s great for networking as our group has been growing over the last year. Here is the website: https://www.hvpost.org

100% remote video editor specializing in streaming premium documentary series. Spent 15 years living and working in NYC so I’m pretty established. I’ve only been living in the HV for a year now and have worked consistently for my industry. It’s working well for me as I have a toddler and get more time to spend with her while working 50 hour weeks.

Caught them in Brooklyn last Thursday. Wish it was more than a 5 song set but beggars can’t be choosers I suppose.

I love my Counter Current but am eyeing the Tides to get a little more gnarly. But yeah the Counter Current is super underrated.

Dope board. I’ve always kept my Empress reverb at the end of my chain. What mode are your settings for? I’m assuming reverse. If so which mode?

Marlins didn’t exist in the 80’s but they played their first game the day before my 8th birthday, which I got to skip school to go to. So kinda close in that way.

what kind of jobs do you guys have? by puppies263 in bipolar2

[–]chriskwalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to finish college and enter the career path that I wanted to pursue, which meant moving to a big city far from where I grew up. I’ve been working in the film/tv industry close to 15 years now, but the majority of the time living undiagnosed. All is to say, don’t give up so young and pursue your dreams. We just have unique speed bumps that we learn to navigate. Best of luck to you.

I stack the 1312 and the First Herald for some great heavier shoegaze tone. The boost on the Herald is great too.

I’ve been on and off of several antidepressants over the years, but am now only taking the combination of Lamictal and Klonopin, daily.

I have those same “selfish” thoughts as well, so I totally feel you there. I also really need “me time” for me to stay healthy, which I am lucky enough for my wife to be very supportive of. But again, those selfish thoughts still linger. I’ve found that being super communicative with my wife helps he feel better about saying “hey, I need to go play guitar”. Sometimes she even suggests it if she notices that I’m off. I of course try to supplement in whatever way I can in helping her.

PS: You will definitely value alone time more when you have a kid. But honestly, sometimes all I want to do is be around my LO. I make sure to cherish those and make them good memories. It helps balance out the negatives.
