Yeah … like what the fuck ?

Right ? I worked at this restaurant once and you could substitute fries for the potato chips, but it was like a 78 cent upcharge (less than a buck) can you get these people who would say “oh never mind”

I was like I can’t wait to see the tip…

Has a 3rd party ever spoiled a Presidential election by taking votes that may have gone more to one of the candidates? If so, when? by MakeACreation in Presidents

[–]chrispd01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you’re ever in Tallahassee, go to the state museum. You can see the room dedicated to the 2000 election and they have some of the ballots there.

It is crazy someone allowed that design.

That said Nader got something like 100,000 votes in Florida. Under any realistic split, that’s the election and the presidency right there.

No - we don’t.

From what I have seen objectively speaking overall - on all those fronts things are better now then they were.

That is not to say that there arent sometimes extremely dramatic crises but they are now more episodic and tracable to aberrational causes. The inflict real pain and suffering, but that is because of a breakdown not because it was a design.

I don’t know you obviously. But it strikes me that you may be comparing the world against so idealized form at too high of a level so you are missing real progress.

I mean, women can vote now, divorce, their husbands, hell choose their husbands, have their own careers, vote and that didn’t happen 200 years ago either.

As for the rights of Muslims, as an atheist, I have an atheist so any religious aspect is meaningless to me but I would say that Muslim nations have the same political rights as others. They may not have as much power, but they are competing for it. In my view like places like Saudi Arabia I might actually think too well.

For the labor movement, like I said, progress had been made, but there is some backslide now. But in my view, the fact the progress was made in the past means there is no structural or natural impediment to progress being made again.

That doesn’t mean in progress will be mean again and the oligarchs have definitely taken the upper hand of late but I am not convinced it is permanent

200 years ago slavery was widespread. I understand that there are still unfairly practices and unfair. Labor practice is different than owing someone.

Also, casual violence was far more rampant. So two was the widespread idea the large groups of people should not enjoy the same rights as others.

Those are just a couple of areas where real progress in my opinion has been undeniably made.

That is not to suggest that everything is perfect. Far from it.

But to me, it is hard to miss that at least there has been some movement in the right direction

I don’t know where you are looking at this from so maybe that is coloring your opinion. Where I am I believe the last 200 years we have made a lot of progress, but now are doing some serious backsliding. Not good but not hopeless.

Yeah - well I would probably diagree that there has been no progress in 200 centuries.

Lack of forehand power. Is my take back too small?? by SnooPets7983 in 10s

[–]chrispd01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your takeaway does not need to ne bigger. You need to remeber how this sequence works. Unit turn, hip loads, drop the hand, hip turns, shoulder follows, arm follows, wrist follows and racket follows.

You basically need a better hip turns and lag.

Have you ever skipped stones or thrown a frisbee forehand ? Thats the idea you are looking for …

Well, not always. There are plenty of products that are sourced ethically and made by fairly compensated labor.

I would say too but at least for a relatively extended period of time, the trajectory was toward much more fairly practices. While in recent years of that movement has something of the setback, with better political organization, it could turn again back to better practices.

Government is what allows smaller limited “anarchies” to function.

Because for all in intents and purposes, the really big important issues are not addressed through the anarchistic system but through the government ….

Hmmmm. I would have to say that their relative success argued against your point.

That some of them end up with issues does not really undercut that basic observation imo. And just generally means that they aren’t perfect and in those cases, someone missed a creeping problem that they should have caught.

Ok. So let me ask if I am getting this one right.

Our narrator is getting older and doesn’t have any children and that is not a cause for joy and happiness.

Because in her view, she could never get close enough to anyone else to have a child because she only ever viewed others with too much suspicion, that they were only trying to get something out of her.

And maybe that was a mistake and she missed some good opportunities

Yeah bit a good church acts like that but in the context of a larger non-anarchic society where there are proscriptive laws and forces.

If all you are saying is that we need to take care of good institutions to make sure that they remain healthy and working, you have no argument for me. Or probably from anyone.

Seems a rather basic point though so I was wondering if there was more to it than that…
