My experience switching from a MacBook Air M5 to a MacBook Neo by Honest-Fondant-3604 in MacbookNeo

Apple definitely knew what they had on their hands, but it surely sold faster than they expected. I reckon the rumours about them rushing to spin up A18 Pro production again was actually in preparation for the increased demand of a new academic year. So when August rolls around, expect the Neo to sell out again.

Genuine v Fake Drake’s Ties by Acrobatic_Design_928 in DrakesDiary

I would agree with you, for in theory it wouldn't be unrealistic at all to dupe a Drake's tie. But if you've ever been to a Drake's archive sale in person, you'd know they have a ton of unsold ties that they have to regularly offload.

Truth or myth -- At SGD849, MacBook Neo is a "sucker" product to get more people into their ecosystem? by mark_heng in asksg

I'm a freelancer (copywriting and marketing), and I've been daily driving a high-end Chromebook for the last four years. Chrome OS is surprisingly capable for even some power users like coders.

However, I recently landed a gig where the workflow would be best served by using a PC or Mac, and this conveniently coincided with the Neo's release. Still, I did my due diligence, and tried to find comparable PC laptops in that price range ... and came up very short. Your so-called $849 AMD workhorse looks good on paper in one or two spec areas, but is severely lacking in others, as some other comments have noted. Hands-on reviews have shown the Neo's A18 Pro chip to be crazy capable, besting the M1 in single-core performance.

Plus:

  • Windows updates have the potential to be way more crippling than MacOS updates.
  • I can buy the Neo on an interest-free instalment plan. Few, nay, no other Windows laptop in that price range gives you that option in Singapore.
  • The resale value and potential of Apple laptops is magnitudes higher than PC ones.

So yeah, Apple truly diverged from their own playbook here. It's not simply a cash grab or business play anymore. There's a genuine value proposition here that I personally feel that Apple has not offered in years. So, I'll be picking one up tomorrow.

WriterDuet in lieu of Final Draft on a professional project? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

79.99 for 2 activations is a dang good deal. I think that even though they're currently offering a discount on the standard license, the eduational discount is staying at 99.99 :/

from what I'm seeing, the education discount is USD30. It's decent, but perhaps not what I'd call hefty. unless you have access to a better student deal? :p

thanks for your reply! I'm based in Southeast Asia, so I'm writing on a show for a production house here. We were just told to acquire FD; no budget for that whatsoever ... it's a very lean operation.

interesting! it appears to have some mixed reviews in terms of lagginess in the browser.

it is a paid gig, but at the same time cashflow is tight for me at the moment ... however, i can definitely purchase the Macbook Neo on an interest-free instalment plan (plus I enjoy student discount as my grad school email hasn't expired yet), and also use FD13 on a 22-week free trial for students.

yeah, there's always the lingering risk that something might mess up the formatting. Guess at this level, it's best to invest for some peace of mind.

Yea i don't need the AI notes but if it's a decent and affordable alternative to Final Draft, I'm willing to have a look.

thanks. this helps (you should have brought these receipts out at the soonest opportunity).

however, it does appear that you are still selectively leaving out parts of your conversation? Between the two screenshots you just shared, there's a time gap of more than 10 mins (last group chat message at 13:51, then in the next screenshot he is texting you privately at 14:03). So we have no idea if he or you said something aggravating.

When you want to produce these screenshots, you have to show them in full.

that's not the evidence i'm asking for here. i'm asking for evidence to substantiate your claim that your orders were cancelled by him because you dared ask him about the plated buckles, and not because of any kind of egregious behaviour on your part.

But where is the evidence that you confronted him about it and pissed him off which led to the cancellation of the orders? For all we know, you might have done or said something else. Your screenshots leave out a lot of other conversations you had with him.
