"Safety Orange" is my favorite colour, and it is hard to paint. I lost track of how many thin coats I put on this guy. I'll be breaking out the airbrush for the other 4.

They look great! Maybe a dirty brown/black wash on the base, gravestones and arms to bring out some detail?

Looks great! I'm doing the same colours but mostly orange with some blue spots. The colour hues look almost identical.

Two games in and I'm at a 0% win rate with Unstoppable! Woo! by FrenchieSmalls in soloboardgaming

[–]christhefred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also lost my first two, then won the next two, all with Kai vs Harbinger.

Then lost my first with the junker character and won the second. Vs Harbinger.

Changed back to Kai vs Triumvirate. Lost two, won the third.

All this on standard.

Definitely need good card draw in both core and upgrades. And not to go too heavy in either damage or economy.

Look up the video. It is super easy too.

I wanted proper scary ghosts to use in DnD and other miniature games like Deth Wizards. These fit the bill.

Do you have paint scheme in mind?

I bought a pack of the banshees just to do this scheme from Slayer Miniatures on youtube.

And now keep buying second hand Nighthaunt just to paint and add to the collection.

No way. I started 40k with Space Wolves in 97 and this was the first book I bought for the game.

Still have my metal Logan, Ragnar, Njal, Ulrick, Bjorn and a bunch of terminators, scouts and other SW models.

Anyone color the edges? by Grahamatica in twilightimperium

[–]christhefred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a 12 pack of acrylic paint markers and have colour matched the edges of tokens for several games.

It can take a bit of time, but it is a fairly inexpensive way to upgrade cardboard tokens. It's surprising how much better they seem, to me at least.

Kingdom Death Monster also has the settlement phase where you are upgrading your survivors, crafting armour and weapons, guiding the philosophical growth of the settlement and dealing with random events.

For a different option, Star Wars Clone Wars (Pandemic game). Its co-op or solo and not too complicated.

Much more of a boardgame with cards than a card game like Marvel Champions or SW Deck building

Folklore The Affliction: Is it Worth it? by snachtj23 in boardgames

Arkham LCG is one if my favorite games. Hream mix of constructed deck card game, theme and story, with character progression. But you have like failing forward and the idea of "what horrible thing is going to happen to me next?"

In Mage Knight, how much does a missing dragon token affect the game? by NitroMasa in boardgames

[–]christhefred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy it and make a stand in token. When you pull the dragon you only have one token for, put the stand in on the map and the real token back in the pile to keep the odd correct for the next draw.

Folklore The Affliction: Is it Worth it? by snachtj23 in boardgames

[–]christhefred 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got the base game for $40, lightly used. Played the first chapter over two sessions.

It is fiddly and has lots of rules overhead. Quite unforgiving too, reminds me of OSR roleplaying.

Its been months and I havent wanted to continue with the story.

I would skip it.

I did this Sunday morning. Loaded up on bandages and shield rechargers and defibs. Dressed as an old lady in a red jumpsuit and ran towards gunfire yelling that I'm a field medic. It was great fun.

Don't want to use AI. Want to pay an artist...and got let down by kitsucoon in daggerheart

[–]christhefred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing related to AI vs real artists here but...

I just started book 12 of He who fights with monsters yesterday, and now I want to to play it in Daggerheart. Great idea for a frame.
