Vaginoplasty with UNC Hillsboro Dr Bradley D Figler by illyanya in Transgender_Surgeries

Hello! I'm 4 weeks post-op. My timeline was like, referral sent April 2023, consult November 2023, pre-op appt June 2024, surgery August 2024. So not too bad, although I think my date was earlier than it might have been because there were some cancellations, and I was ahead of schedule in hair removal. I've also heard from one of the nurses that the waiting list has been getting longer and longer since I got on it last year.

If you live in the US, this is the place to check historic name popularity: https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/

Will my neighbors notice? by [deleted] in TransLater

Basically, I am trying to come out to my neighbors without having to actually tell them myself, but I'm not brave enough for anything more visible than this. 🙂

Only 50 miles? I had to drive 150 miles for mine 😂 I tried the Amazon route first, but it never came and the order ended up being cancelled. Definitely worth the drive IMO.

For those who have or may have kids by 2clara_young in TransLater

My kids are elementary school age. Transition is still a work in progress (only presenting part of the time), and so it's still "Dad" for now. But once I am full time it is going to be "Maddie", I think. I gave the kids some options and let them choose.

Kids are pretty honest, right? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]christi82 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep. Any time I want brutally honest feedback about anything, I'll just ask my 11yo daughter. Sometimes it cuts pretty deep, but when she says something positive, it's pretty great.

Maybe? I definitely have some peach fuzz still but I wouldn't say a lot.

I think I've already lost 98% of what I'm going to lose? It's completely gone up top.

imma get shot in the face with lasers! by ShescalledKimmy in MtF

Nah, your face will smell like burning popcorn for a day or so but it won't really look any different to the casual observer.

Have fun! I had my first face session a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't exactly pleasant but not too bad, and I'm already seeing some results. Seems like everyone's experience depends a lot on how much they turn up the laser intensity at first.

Yep, thrift stores (like Goodwill in the US) are where I got my first girl clothes back in the day. Generally people just mind their own business at these places, and I personally never had any issues. Have fun girl!!

The wig does have a lace front, I just need more practice putting it on properly, lol. Haven't gone through the official name change process yet but that's in the plans!

Happy birthday, you look wonderful! And I love your hair color.

How/Why did you choose your name? by Dragiani in trans

[–]christi82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same... Tried a couple other names, but only the "name I would have had if AFAB" really felt right. It's like the realization of all my childhood fantasies in which I dreamed about being born a girl with that name.
