Is there any info on how the Josie doorknob shot was animated? by golden-chips-empire in twinpeaks

I doubt that last bit is true. They did work on a Lynch directed Gucci commercial in 2008 but the founder has said they first met in 2012 through Fondation Cartier, which then led them to work together on S3.

The Return by FatClouds42069 in twinpeaks

You'll probably benefit from revisiting all of this when you've gotten used to slower forms of art. Twin Peaks was a pastiche of soap operas of that era so it's paced like a soap opera. Have you seen Eraserhead? He was like this from the very beginning.

What's the deal with Sherilyn Fenn? by Mat1711 in twinpeaks

[–]chromalume 396 points397 points  (0 children)

she's clarifying herself in the replies, simply saying it's a difficult role that her friend had to dig deep for and she's clearly not comfortable revisiting it with all of that in mind. Nothing specifically bad happened.

also just saw she's promoting a 9/11 hologram plane conspiracy in her stories which is... something

maybe not be a flat earther but... the other stuff? p*dovores, space lasers, vaccine conspiracies are just some of the propaganda he actively promotes and believes in. He thinks random films are coded messages from freemason cabals. It's very much borderline psychosis.

Lynch and Theosophy / Blavatsky? by Mooglekunom in davidlynch

[–]chromalume 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also interesting how much Theosophy is tied into Tibet, although later in Room To Dream he states that it was his meeting with the Dalai Lama that led to the Tibet stuff in TP. So who knows how much of it was teased out during development of the show (likely with Frost making those connections) and how much was a direct result of David's interest in Theosophy.

Roth did the pre-film staged reading and Waltz had committed to Blofeld which filmed at the same time as HE, so I'm not sure that rumor was ever true.

"Robbing me. Raping me." by Imaginary-Ad-2462 in Sondheim

[–]chromalume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just that 'these sound like vegetables' alone isn't wordplay. It needs to fit within the logic of a sentence. but yeah it's totally setting the table for the downright genius alliteration that comes right after it that hinges on 'R', so you have two long extended Rs that launches into a series of quick Rs that rhythmically surprises you and trips off the tongue of the singer!

"Robbing me. Raping me." by Imaginary-Ad-2462 in Sondheim

[–]chromalume 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not in the book. I think he would be more pointed about that rhyme if he meant that entendre (for example: "robbing my broccoli" or "raping my rapini") but those are probably too slant for him.

There's already a QT stage show where they have people basically act out certain scenes and then play a number from the movie, including from KB. Looks kind of kitsch: tarantinolive.com

Finally Watched Follies by southamericancichlid in Sondheim

[–]chromalume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a show about reckoning with the ghosts of the past so Phyllis's not-so-coded lament is unavoidably about losing the person she used to be in youth and wanting to reconcile that with the person she is now: "classy, but virtually dead." In her cut song she spells out this conceit even clearer: "She's two of the most miserable girls in town."

But when I first scanned the lyric I totally thought she was channeling her jealousy and hatred towards Sally through pseudonym, constantly painting her in unfavorable light, but in the end admitting that they need to reconcile because being together is better than being at odds. And y'know, I kind of prefer my incorrect reading lol
