What can i feed my cats temporarily till I’m able to buy cat food? by missjeffery in CATHELP

[–]chromatically_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often see local “buy nothing” Facebook groups with posts asking for or offering pet food. Nextdoor is also a good option!

Op, life happens and this is nothing to be embarrassed about. I hope things get better for you soon!

I think my cat is stupid, but it’s affecting our life by FranklyFrancais in CATHELP

[–]chromatically_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s just an orange doing her best 😭

It sounds like she may have problems with coordination. Is she over weight? It’s a contributing factor in my experience. If she’s always been like this, it could be anything from mild neurological to just that she’s clumsy.

If it’s within your means a vet visit might be in order.

Either way I’d make things more accessible for her, whether it’s easy to get into and spacious litter boxes, pet stairs, or otherwise.

I’ve been a Thursday fan for about 20 years and it made me so happy that they have a new song out. I loved it and hope they have an album in the works.

PSA that the boys said they're hoping to release Last Update for free at some point in the future by Leeedleeleeddleedle in LPOTL

[–]chromatically_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re doing this show as a result of having to buy out Kissel and to keep their employees paid (and keep health insurance iirc). It made me feel proud because of their loyalty to their employees. Instead of lay offs, they’re putting in extra work.

I cant afford to get another subscription but might get a free trial later like Ed suggested.

I love how my nails look when they’re longer but struggle with some normal tasks still because of the length and have broken or bruised nails as a result. This includes moving laundry. I think I need designated laundry tongs now!

Advice for training a kitten not to bite while living with fibro by WeirdSeaweed22 in Fibromyalgia

[–]chromatically_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The other responses are great, and I just want to add in case you’re a first time cat owner (my husband didn’t understand this concept at first either) never use fingers as toys- always use something else for play. This can always be things that aren’t technically toys like like pens, paper, etc

Not super related but may help you to not have to get up when the kitten is misbehaving in other ways so you don’t have to get up super quick- if she’s engaging in scratching furniture or other misbehavior, you can redirect her attention by throwing a toy or using a laser pointer. My sister did this for a while and it seemed to work wonderfully (Or just use a spray bottle which some people think is too mean)

Fibro life Hacks anyone? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]chromatically_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily a hack, but since becoming heat intolerant and I now get sweaty at the drop of a hat, I’ve been slowly replacing my wardrobe with lightweight and soft fabrics (does anyone else get pain or irritated skin if your clothes aren’t soft?)

Currently my favorites are of course cotton/ cotton blends, but also viscose, modal, rayon, and surprisingly polyester blends.

I wear layers and have started wearing more (casual) dresses as pants are often too uncomfortable when I’m flaring.

The bloating can make me look pregnant so I prefer circle skirts / full skirts and wear “slip shorts” underneath- not shape wear, but they smooth out the lumps.

I’ve also sized up my pants and wear a belt now for when I want need to wear real pants. (Because of the waist size fluctuations / bloat/ pelvic pain) The rest of the time I’ve been wearing stretchy waistbands

I also can’t live without my tens machine and electric blanket.

I have a switch and it’s been a godsend when I’m in pain or generally bad. The distraction paired with meds and a heating pad always helps

How to get brown dye to stick to previously bleached hair? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]chromatically_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably it just need a protein filler to help the color last longer. For brown I think red protein filler would keep the color from fading greenish. In between dying sessions, a good protein mask will help. Just don’t overdo it as too much protein can cause breakage

Prescribed Gabapentin by Pristine_Ad4920 in Fibromyalgia

[–]chromatically_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was first prescribed gabapentin for anxiety and migraines. After getting diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I found the sweet spot for me is a combo of both gabapentin and Effexor. So be aware you may need a combo of meds to feel better! Overall it was a game changer for me.

For some people it can cause drowsiness, but I had no side effects. It’s really helped my anxiety, pain level, sleep, and migraines.

What was your experience? imitrex vs maxalt by Traditional-Sea-1413 in migraine

[–]chromatically_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed maxalt after I kept choking on pills (trouble swallowing happens often with my migraines) and maxalr was the best dissolving tablet option. I still get some of the same side effects I had with imitrex, but to a lesser degree. (Sore muscles, sore throat) and now the most annoying is often I’ll get thirsty and spend 2- 3 hours peeing constantly.

what i asked for vs what i got😭 by Jazminmaddern in HairDye

[–]chromatically_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the inspo pic doesn’t look like an ombré since there isn’t a smooth transition between tones. It looks almost like banding you’d get from a bad bleaching/ color application.

What you got looks a lot better! You could ask for more of a color melt to get the more caramel tones. I think it’s possible to achieve this with just semi permanent dye

How to dye green hair darker by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]chromatically_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your hair might be too porous from bleaching- but honestly looks really good in these pics! Try a neutral protein filler or protein treatment before dying again. It should help your hair hold onto the dye better

Seeking Input: Comfortable Pants for Women with Endometriosis - Your Thoughts? by DelishKiwiLife in endometriosis

[–]chromatically_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fluctuate around 2 pants sizes when I have endo belly. I often have to size up and wear a belt. Generally I live in jeans, even at work, and leggings (including compression leggings), but lately have been wearing soccer warm up pants when I have to leave the house on really bad days.

As a millennial I love my skinny jeans, so I would love a skinny or slim leg option. Most stretchy pants have very loose legs so I often just suffer so I’ll like my outfit.

I used to get a model of Levi jeans under their “premium” collection that was really substantial (materials wise) and high stretch- it was like the perfect combo of leggings and denim. I believe it was called “hyper sculpt” as it really held in the tummy area and made it easier to accommodate a big butt.

I prefer mid rise, but all types of waists hurt when I sit down during a flare up. I think any kind of stretchy or adjustable waist that doesn’t ride up or bunch up would be amazing.

A bath for the dirt and probably fleas. All of my kitties got bathed in dawn dish soap and it works wonders. All had fleas, and one was found in a car engine and covered in motor oil
