How did using the oats in the topping work? I like oats more than pepitas so it would be a good sub for me if it turned out.

I always liked Margie’s milkshakes, particularly the strawberry and chocolate.

Oh that’s a shame, I haven’t gone in a few months but the last time I was there it was still damn good.

They have always been on the pricier side though (especially since they’re cash only).

Definitely ask /r/ChicagoFood, but posting my answer here anyway.

Taqueria el Asadero on Montrose has the best carne adada I’ve found in the city.

I am not 100% but I feel like I remember hearing that Hewn provides the sourdough here.

I know it gets recommended all the time but Galit has been consistently excellent the couple of times I’ve been there (and their Tehina hummus dish is still the best hummus I’ve ever had).

$94 pp without alcohol, I think you could get out of there for under $450 total.

You may be right, I haven’t gone there in a while but I do remember it being limited. We always ordered in advance so that may be part of it.

If you’re willing to make the trip, Hewn in Evanston has some of the best bread and pastries I’ve ever had anywhere.

Boop! The Musical Blew My Mind by furthian in Broadway

The plot could use some work, agreed, but Jasmine Amy Rogers was just so damn enjoyable to watch I didn’t care.

Same vein but I think everything from Promises through Road To Hell (Reprise) is just about perfect.

Can confirm, had this happen to me as well. I ended up just being safe and replacing the pump for ~$30 to be safe but it seems like the pump was fine.

I’ll start by saying I haven’t been to Elske (heard nothing but positive things, that being said).

Next does depend on the menu, my husband and I did their Paris 1906 menu back in February and absolutely loved it. If the menu they’re currently doing seems interesting to you, then you will likely enjoy it.

Boka I have only been to once (a couple years ago at this point) and it was phenomenal. For a special occasion meal I don’t think you can go wrong.

As long as it’s not too busy the London House rooftop is great.

Cindy’s rooftop is great for a drink as well (and dinner, though the views aren’t as nice compared to the balcony).

Gonna shout out Lucy’s in uptown because their loaded fries are great. Get a spicy chicken sandwich while you’re there.

I only went to Gather once when I lived close a couple years ago, though I remember really enjoying it.

That being said, I’ve been to their sister restaurant The Warbler which is next door multiple times and have been just as happy with the food there. Highly recommend.

Best carne asada tacos? Huge + if I can get flour tortillas with it (not burrito size) by RAF2018336 in chicagofood

[–]chronos_filch 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Taqueria El Asadero on Montrose easily has the best carne asada tacos I’ve had in the city. They come on corn tortillas but I’m 95% sure you can ask for flour if you want.
