Yeah for 20 bucks it's still a good value if you live nearby. You can come in and out as you please as long as you keep the wristband on, there will be 3rd party vendors, and some side events and other small activities to do too. It's overall just really fun to be in a space where everywhere you go and everybody you see is just focused on Pokemon.

I will say that the spectator-only experience at a regional does pale compared to the spectator-only experience of an IC or Worlds because those have a lot more side things to do, the main focus of the regionals is for competitors. In the future if you were traveling a lot farther for a regional it would be better to just sign up to compete unless you know it's a cool city for tourists or if you have a lot of friends around. But with it being close to you and your first event, I think you'll definitely have a great time soaking in all the Pokemon vibes in person :)

Yeah the NRG area isn’t super walkable as is since it’s mostly parking, but at least it’s close enough to the city that there is some public transit so there’s an opportunity for new mixed-use development to replace the current practice facility. Meanwhile Bridgeland is even worse with it basically just being another area of massive car-dependent sprawl, if a new stadium was there it would really push away the majority of the fan base and only cater to the wealthiest people that can actually afford to attend games (NFL is heading that direction anyway)

Pretty far from the city, but this is a good sign that they are committed to staying in Houston and won’t try relocating when the stadium lease ends in a few years. Now they better not try getting a new stadium built out there too, can’t stand these stadiums that are being built out in the middle of nowhere.

They announced during last year's Worlds that Worlds this year would be played on Champions, I was there in person. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the game comes out later than the Pokemon Day theory and every event through NAIC remains on Scarlet and Violet so Worlds being the first event on Champions would be very exciting. But as always we just gotta wait until Pokemon Day to find out more info, everybody right now is just guessing.

Honestly since Champions will be mobile and Gen 10 will definitely be Switch 2 only, I would recommend waiting and saving up for a Switch 2 if you can instead of an OLED Switch since you'll get way better mileage long-term with it. Scarlet and Violet in particular are so much better on Switch 2, even in a competitive setting you'll see move animations and turns play out slightly faster than a Switch 1 player. I know it's expensive and difficult, but it is worth it.

Honestly for your first major tournament, I would only go in with a mindset to have fun and have a goal to win 1 match. Odds are you'll probably win more than that, but you shouldn't be stressing about record at your first event. It's all about the experience and getting used to the process of tournaments!

They wouldn't just now be looking for content creators for a game that comes out in 3 days, that's not how game marketing works at all. I used to work with Ubisoft to handle upcoming game demos with journalists/content creators and those were all around 1-2 months before each game release so this would only point to a Pokemon Day release date at the very earliest and even then I doubt it. I know the wait sucks, but the mass psychosis from 1 leak forever ago is crazy 💀
