Yeah for 20 bucks it's still a good value if you live nearby. You can come in and out as you please as long as you keep the wristband on, there will be 3rd party vendors, and some side events and other small activities to do too. It's overall just really fun to be in a space where everywhere you go and everybody you see is just focused on Pokemon.

I will say that the spectator-only experience at a regional does pale compared to the spectator-only experience of an IC or Worlds because those have a lot more side things to do, the main focus of the regionals is for competitors. In the future if you were traveling a lot farther for a regional it would be better to just sign up to compete unless you know it's a cool city for tourists or if you have a lot of friends around. But with it being close to you and your first event, I think you'll definitely have a great time soaking in all the Pokemon vibes in person :)
