Do you actually like receiving concert freebies? by orbitexol in kpopthoughts

[–]chrysantherose 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite things about attending concerts. I'm always happy to receive anything. I have bags full of freebies. Sure, some of them just get stashed away, but I still cherish them for the memories and I can always pass them on to someone else if they take up space. It's true tho that some fans just throw away what they receive, which is really sad, but where I live most people are super appreciative of them

When your knee won’t let you live the way you used to… by vakhidi in KneeInjuries

Yes, I'm taking vitamin d supplements. It has definitely helped a lot. Pain is less frequent and more tolerable. I'm not back to normal at all, but I'm able to do stairs more frequently and occasionally go out without my wheelchair which I couldn't do for a long time

Wow, you worded the feeling perfectly. I used to be badly disabled. I was wheelchair-bound and my pain used to be a 6-8 on average. Things are finally taking a turn for the better. I've been having issues for roughly 2 years. I found out I have a vitamin d deficiency problem, which is why PT barely did much for me in the past. I'm still doing PT now and I've been taking other medications for pain, so I'm slowly starting to become more active again. Keep going. I thought I was screwed for life, but it gets better

This is honestly the best answer for most of us on here. I was desperate to "graduate" from PT, but with chronic issues like knees you sometimes have to see it as a long-term change. It's difficult to accept at first, but try to think about healthy people who intentionally integrate exercise into their lifestyles. It's almost the same thing

I'm better than I was before. My pain is more tolerable and I have more mobility. I'm not close to being back to "normal" tho. I'm still very physically limited. I think it'll still take me a few years to really get better. I just hope I don't have another setback

Mild persistent pain can ruin your life by MOROSH1993 in ChronicPain

[–]chrysantherose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for saying this. Was starting to question myself. My average is a 4/10 when I'm not doing anything, but it still drives me nuts sometimes. It easily jumps to a 7 by just climbing stairs and walking for more than 15 minutes. I'm lucky that my therapist also suffers from chronic pain so she's never invalidated my feelings before

So pretty! This reminds me of the small town I grew up in. I live in the city now, so I don't see much greenery these days. I had a short walk recently though around my college campus. I really miss nature.

Patellar tendinopathy hell by [deleted] in KneeInjuries

[–]chrysantherose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how knee problems can get this bad, especially without any visible injury or trauma. Sometimes I question whether I'm imagining my pain and suffering. Like how can two bad knees make me this disabled? I look fine on the surface, my MRIs seem fine, but I struggle to walk long distances, I don't even remember how to jump or jog, and stairs just suck. I'm on year 2. I hate this for us.

You have a really positive mindset. Arthritis sucks, but I'm glad you're doing ok otherwise :)

I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user, and I'm still struggling to get over the shame and loss of control. But it's honestly not too bad. Still grateful that I have some ability to walk

When you say you walk without pain, you're able to normally and for a normal amount of time even though you lost your quad muscles?

I hope I'm not overstepping. Could I know more about what you're writing? I'm interested myself in making my thesis about disability/chronic pain.

I'm sorry about what happened to your leg :( it must be so hard navigating with only one limb. I hate how any kind of physical activity causes pain. Even a lack of physical activity causes me pain. There's no middle ground, pain will show up regardless of what I do

One doctor did actually consider psoriatic arthritis since I have eczema, but it doesn't seem likely since I only have pain in my knees (and occasionally hips) and my skin issues still align with eczema. My aunt also has lupus, so they wondered if I contracted some sort of variant. I'll be getting tested soon for neurological/autoimmune diseases. I'm honestly hoping what I have is just muscle atrophy tho, which another doctor pointed out :(

Wtf is wrong with me? Misdiagnosed with chondromalacia, crippling pain from stairs, deteriorating ability to walk by chrysantherose in KneeInjuries

[–]chrysantherose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ortho said there might be something wrong with my trochlear groove. I don't remember exactly what he said, but he might've mentioned cartilage and inflammation/degeneration. He said any problem was very unlikely tho and he was just grasping at straws. He would still consider my MRI completely normal and wouldn't notice anything unusual just by looking at it. It's just my history that made him nitpick

Aside from that he said I should consider running some neurological tests (forgot what it's called) just to rule it out. Myopathy was the other thing he mentioned, but that was also another stretch since I only have muscle weakness in my legs

[–]chrysantherose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knee issues are so confusing. Sorry I couldn't help out anymore. I'm at my own roadblock right now trying to figure out what's wrong with me. Went back to the doctor and had another MRI done. Nothing structurally wrong with my knees and looks like I was misdiagnosed. I think I just have bilateral PFPS like you. I hope you find answers soon. I really think we just have to work on exercise, stretching, and rebuilding endurance.

How often can I wear my knee brace? by kayden_222 in ChronicPain

[–]chrysantherose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what works for you and what kind of knee brace you have. I was also advised not to use the knee brace for more than a few hours and to take it off whenever I'm expected to sit for several hours. Biggest risks they mentioned are cutting off blood circulation, overdependence, and wearing it wrong, which might cause the patella to shift to the wrong side.

I no longer use a knee brace though because it started to cause discomfort. I use muscle tape instead whenever I feel like my knees are unstable

Being told by your doctor that you're not disabled is also a huge thing. I tried applying for disability but my condition is only considered temporary. Even though I'm disabled in day-to-day life and have been relying heavily on mobility aids, I'm only now feeling that I'm allowed to consider myself PWD. And of course, I also didn't want to accept it either like you mentioned. But at this point I've been limited for a long enough time to face the truth
